According to a couple of folks we do business with in the Buffalo area, it's snowing a couple of inches an hour up there right now. Part of it might be exaggeration, but I believe it. They're forecast to get 36 inches...

It's freezing here at night and chilly in the daytime, but alas no snow. I'd like to see a couple of feet, snow makes the drab winter bright.

Don't they get significant snowfall every year there?

I had some frost on the inside of the windows on the glass. I have those cellular blinds. We usually keep them down when its cold. Less cold radiating from them. Then the heat really doesn't get to the windows and frost builds up when its cold. As soon as I pull up the blinds it melts and dries up.

Yeah, but I don't know if its 5' at a time. But they are pretty well equipped to deal with heavy snow fall. They have to be.

The weather out where I am has been so completely uneventful that they just issued a Winter Weather Advisory for 1-2 inches of snow

BTW: Dunno if this is common knowledge or not... I had figured it out myself, then heard it from my boss like 10 years later, but I've never seen it on the net.

If you have horizontal blinds on your windows, when it is cold outside and you want it to be warm inside, adjust the blinds so that if you JUST crack them you can look out and see the ground.
When it is hot outside and you want it to be cool inside, adjust the blinds so that if you JUST crack them you can look out and see the sky.

Heat rises. Adjusting the blinds so you can see the ground directs any heat rising against the blinds back into the room.
Adjusting the blinds so that you can see the sky directs any cool air falling against the blinds back into the room.

Likewise, adjusting the blinds so you can see the ground directs any heat rising against the outside blinds into the room.
Adjusting the blinds so that you can see the sky directs any heat falling against the blinds into the room.

Of course, in the summer, countering this is whether or not the blinds close tightly enough to keep sunlight from passing through and warming the floor.
Some of my blinds are nice, heavy wood-like blinds, so they work well for this.
The spare bedroom, they are Ikea aluminum $20 specials.
I aim them at the ground all year.

    Interesting.
sounds good in theory, I wonder if the concept works in a home with quality thermopane windows with low-e glass :notsure:

Shrug. I've got curtains on mine. They're open when the sun's shining, and closed when it's not.
