Figured this is as good a spot as any to ask... I'm thinkin about derping the center of my hood white when I get my glassworks in a few weeks.. My question is how to do the edges of the paint. I wanna run it just down the center of the hood following the stock bends that are in it but I'm not sure how to get clean lines there without cutting. I know with regular paint you can tape it out, paint, dry and then peel the tape, but with this stuff wouldn't that just peel the plasti dip back off??

It won't if you pull the tape before is dries completely and peel slow and have a razor handy when/if it starts to pull it up.

I don't blame you. Ya that sounds right just make sure to cover the entire hood for over spray or misting

Once you start doing a larger surface area, like you are planning vs. like wheels or a grill, you start to notice stripes in the dip.

By that, I mean if you are using a spray can, as you make your passes you have a stripe shape where the dip is thick (center of spray pattern) and it gets thinner as the spray fans out from there.

This is compounded the more coats you put on, and in certain light, you'll see it. Looks like irregular stripes to me. I tried and finally got it right on my rear bumper, but on a nice large flat surface like your hood, you'll notice.

If it won't bother you, then at least go into it knowing it might happen. If I was going to do a large area I'd use a spray gun for an even sheen.

^tha ms to both of y'all! Seem thin ill get to tacklin in a few weeks when the glassworks show up... Also, seems like to even out/counteract that striping, alternate you spray pattern. And by that I mean, on the first pass do lines about 8" apart (guessing on the width of the spray here) and then on the second start 4" lower than the first... That should put the heavier center section of the spray over the previous lighter sections right..?

That may work. I guess if it doesn't, you can peel it off if you don't like it!

Probably going to do my wheels this spring. Questions though - Is it a pain to do around the wheel weights? I'm running stockers with traditional balance weights. I'm thinking good cleaning with a brush, make sure really dry and spray away. Right? The other question is color. MGM truck with antricite might be too much - black might be better. Your thoughts?
