I understand you offered help. The thing is this all had to be done with a press and I went to the shop you wanted me to go to. Do you have a press? That is pretty much the help I need. I know how to install it and all that other stuff.

Anyone have an idea on why my head unit doesn't work when I start up the truck in the morning?

It will play whatever station / source it's on - I just can't change anything besides the volume with the dial. It's the 13' touch screen one, the buttons on the steering wheel don't work either. After about 20 minutes my commute is over and it will kind of start to work, but usually it glitches itself into it (i.e. scans through radio stations by itself). The rest of the day and night it's been fine.

    Thinking/researching..

EDIT: wondering if the water has anything to do with this.

FYI, that looks like the old bearing race. Not at all uncommon for a bad bearing to come apart when getting pressed off of the hub flange. Cutting it off isn't the end of the world, however, some people may just use a torch to heat the part to help it come apart..

Either way, this is a very easy project, why you are having issues is truly beyond me.. But, best of luck to you.

Water damage can cause a lot, but from the pics I didn't seem like the water made it up to the HU.

Sadly he does, and he doesn mean to either.:(
That happens, the guy I bought my LSD off of gave me the wrong part and since you did not have the existing part off to verify how would you know.
He didn have an old one off to check first. Plus those boxes from checkers aren't labelled in a manner that would tell him if it were specific to his truck.
I'm struggling to see the issue. As of right now it looks like he dremeled into the hub. If he had a press he should have been able to just pull that race off.

EDIT: I see it not, that race should be pulled should it not Jerry? Unless Toyota does something weird but he should cut all the way through that and remove it to replace with the new one

LOL have you not seen all of his post, did you see the spindle debacle he put himself through?

Sounds like you need a flash update. You got warranty take it into the dealer.

If that is the race then he should be cutting though that to remove the whole thing. I need to look at this picture again.
Didn look like he had any going to the head unit either. No controls for that go through the bed floor on his truck.....

All the high school students in Miami look like Ricky Martin mixed with Zach Morries from Saved by the Bell.

The hub assembly looked as thought to be completely sealed. At least the few Toyota's I have seen. Haven had to replace mine on my 5lug, knock on wood. I didn study Jaime's, when I did his spindles, enough to see how easy it comes apart.

But yes, months ago when he was complaining about vibration issues first thing we told him was to check the wheel bearing. However, that gouge looks like it was caused by the guy dremeling. Heat marks around the gouge indicates an abrasive cut. I am just confused as to why he didn keep cutting it down to the hub to remove....

Either way Nick needs to learn how to ask people that know what they are doing for help instead of trying to tackle things on his own. They tend to never work out for him and entertain the shit out of me.:)
