So any lift we do on the truck will cause this vibration? I am now seriously doubting the 3" lift I am having installed tomorrow.

That's a great idea. I don't know why I didn't think to do that. We do it at work...

The bushing isn't a bad job to do & regardless of a lift or not, the front diff needle bearing wears & causes cv slop.

    Ball joints as well

I put it in the freezer in fear of cracking the bushing from excessive force as I have seen others do. I installed the bushing on my 05 with success by putting it in the freezer for an hour, worked great.

Well, the vibe started less than a mile after installing the AAL in my '07. Added 5100s and now there's no doubt I need the bushing or to lower the truck again.

Just curious if anyone has put some higher mileage on the East Coast bushing by this time? If so, is it still doing it's magic?

There's quite a few posts in this thread about miles on the bushing.......

This thread has gotten too big to easily find things in. Lots of people not reading the 74 pages, which is understandable, and missing key information. Also, the solution of the ECGS bushing and the techniques for install evolved during the thread.

Perhaps a new thread with all the relevant information in the first post is in order?

Looks like the relevant information is on the first post to me? What else do you need?

More information on bearing removal technique and tips, bushing install technique and tips, CV axle removal/install, install photos of all steps. There seem to be lots of recurrent questions in these areas, and the answers are frequently buried deep in the thread.

I got to page 34, where discussion had talked about longevity of the stock setup. It got me worried enough about my own vibe to jump to 60 to see if anyone was talking about the ECGS bushing. At that point it was discussion on tools, so I hyper-drived to 74.

    Exactly.

So. Installed Bushing. Fixed breaking Cardon/Yoke that was causing more DL vibs.

Truck rides smooth as glass now. No vibrations at all. Like Stock. (Minus all the Armour and Long Travel. :D)

I am a little lost - I do not have a Tacoma - but I wanted to thank you all for this thread.

I have a 2003 Tundra. I was able to determine that my vibration, which was non-synchronous and appeared between 30-45 mph, would disappear once I engaged 4wd. After several deep google searches I was able to find this thread.

The tundra is not lifted, but current mileage is 124k. I had already ordered new CV half shafts before reading all of this. I placed a call to ECGS and determined that the Tundra has the 7.5 clamshell. I decided to go all in - bought the bushing, oil seal, removal tool and the race install kit (willing to sell both at a discount if anyone needs them). I am happy to report that the swap was done in my garage and the vibration is now GONE! It has been about two weeks now, there is no indication of any vibration at all. I watched the video on ECGS, shoved a zip lock bag (with zip cut off) into the carrier and went to work. I used a zip lock bag since it is thicker and didn't believe it would rip upon removal (it worked great). I had found a CV half shaft replacement DIY from a Tundra forum and used that for the rest. All said and done it took about 4 hours, cleaning as I went. I actually used one of my shop vac tubes to drive the oil seal. I chose to replace the gear oil at the same time.

Just wanted to share my experience and thank you all for this thread and East Coast Gear Supply for the bushing.

^^ caSE, first of all, welcome to TW!

The Tundra actually has a technical service bulletin (TSB) for this problem. It involves replacing the whole differential. You did the right thing putting the ECGS bushing in it.

I have a 2012 and have not felt this vibe, however my truck is still under warranty for 1 more year and I'd like Toyota to fix it if possible.

What is the best way to go about recreating this driveline vibe so I can show it to a Toyota tech?

Is it driving 40 MPH in 2wd on a flat road?

    Only noticeable after a lift.

The dealers fix is going to be replacing the whole front diff, not installing this bushing. Then in a few years you'll be back in this same position.
