    1) that's all i use.
    2) you have your own welder, but haven't taken the 10 minutes to weld on shackle points?!?!?!

the white one is on stock tires. i always think that looks weird. especially since it's lifted too.

    sure

depends on the structure of the bumper. welding flush to a piece of 1/8 or 3/16 plate with no support directly behind the mount is a poor choice. the welde will hold just fine, but you'll pull the plate in all kinds of wrong directions.

i typically do a tripple pass on the clevis points. if you do the math on the tensile strength/unit area of weld, on a properly penetrated weld, you'll break other things before tearing a weld off.

from a weld area standpoint, that's fantastic for strength, but it can have some serious drawbacks as well. unless you cut the hole for the mount with a laser or waterjet, odds are, you're not getting smooth lines, and properly rounded corners. any deveation that creates a sharper edge or angle in your cut, can cause what is called a stress raiser, or other weak point in the plate itself. this can greatly increase the rist of tearing or cracking the plate itself. the same principal is why you drill a hole and the end of a crack to stop it from spreading.

luckily, your typical off road bumpers are overbuilt enough around the shackle/frame mounting points, that this decrease in integrity is never an issue.

if i ever saw anything of yours that i had major strength/safety concerns about, i'd let you know. that's why i spoke so strongly against the sleved tubed attachment sliders.
