Without the ADD engaged the passenger side stub shaft is not connected to the cv axle therefore it is free to rotate at any time

Here is a great write up on the subject:

And a super simple picture to illustrate:

Now someone just needs to ask about what oil is the best for the differentials, and we'll have a giant mess of a thread... :D

I heard you want different weight gear oil in the front vs the rear since the front isn't used under as constant a load.:D

Do I have to put LSD additive in my front diff, even if there is no sticker that says I have an LSD?

You are fine driving it in 4wd. It's not binding anything. The front drive shaft and all components are constantly turning in 2wd with the only thing changing is engaging the xfer case applying power to a fully open differential that truly only powers one wheel, the one with the LEAST traction. That is the sole purpose of the open diff, so you can turn with no damage. The surface makes no difference.

None of the tires are moving at the same speed, unless you have installed full lockers in the front and rear

If your system is binding it has nothing to do with dry pavement and there lies a greater issue.

    enough to go over stuff
If the surface you are on requires 4wd you probably shouldnt be going faster than 60 even if the truck could go that fast in 4wd. If you want to turn sharply in 4wd make sure the surface you are on required 4wd and allowes the tires to spin independently.

Well, considering that I have been driving with a front wheel drive second gen... (long story short, rear end blew, pulled the driveshaft, blah blah blah) for well over 1000 miles, on a truck that has over 110 000 miles on it... dry pavement, terrible ice conditions, on a 6" lifted truck on 35's... and ive had no issues at all... I think its safe to assume you'll be just find lol

Yeah I have it pulled off the road and at my mechanics shop now. Im curious to see what he will find. I would have done it myself, but I can only do so much in -30 weather in a driveway

Nope. There is no center diff, so the wheel that is getting power in the front and the wheel that is getting power in the back ARE turning at the same speed because they are mechanically locked together. Go do a bunch of sharp turns on pavement in 4 wheel drive and tell me you don't experience binding.
