Dealing on 2 trucks,opinions please.

Hello,
I recently missed out on the deal of a lifetime on a 2011 double cab so I'm kind of on the rebound right now. I have found 2 more trucks that I'm interested in and honestly can't decide which one I should go for so I was hoping for some input from some of you. Both are extended cabs, not double and both are black.
The first one is a 2013 TX Baja , 14600 miles, automatic, no tow package, fancy touch screen radio but no entune, no navigation, and probably no xm radio. A real nice looking clean truck but kind of basic also. $28400.
The other one is a 2012 TX Pro, 34400 miles, 6 sp. manual, supercharged, tow package, regular looking radio with xm, 50% tire tread, etc. Also a nice clean truck but for the same money, $28400. I might be able to knock him down another 2 grand on this one.
That's my dilemma. I have been looking for a Tacoma for a long time and really wanted a supercharged one, that's the hardest part about this. I don't care which tranny it has (other than for resale value possibly)and I am aware of the complaints about the 6 speed. I don't plan on pulling too much with either one but would have to put a hitch on the Baja and still wouldn't be a tow package. I do offroad a bit but either one should handle what I do. The TX PRO might have one less leaf, I don't know.
I have to say that even though these trucks are very similar looking, I do like the Baja a little better, it's just missing the tow package, xm radio which is retarded, and supercharger (which is worth a lot) but with half the miles on it. What would you guys do if you had to choose between these two trucks or do you think that they are both overpriced? Neither one compares to the one I missed out on, I'll never forgive myself for that.

 

Neither sound like good deals to me. I bought a new access cab sr5 with premium nav package for $300 under factory invoice which was in the mid 29s, plus tax and license..

 

I would take the supercharged tx pro. They both sound pretty tempting and a tough choice. What about color?

 

There both black. It's hard to find low mileage used Tacomas where I'm at and it seems like the dealers are mainly stocking double cab sport models, they must sell better. That damn supercharger makes it a tough choice for me.

 

I don't care about entune or nav, that's what my phone is for. So, I would go with the lower miles automatic over the other one every day of the week.

However, I don't care about the supercharger either. I can't quite wrap my head around why someone would want one other than the "cool?" factor. My V6 auto has plenty of power.

Test drive both? Maybe you'll find you don't like the supercharger or 6 speed. Otherwise I'd say go with the TX Pro. Isn't the supercharger already like 3.5-4k? Although it's possible it was beaten on by its previous owner. Any maintenance records?

 

"on the rebound" purchases sometimes will not end in satisfactory results. I would pass if what you really want was a double cab vs. access cab because losing that extra space is a deal breaker for me. Dealing with driving a manual in city traffic will also beat me down. Wait and get what you really want at a better price because those fancy options can be added to any basic truck and save you $$$$. They both seem overpriced and what's the use of a supercharger on a tacoma?

 

Tow any significant weight on a semi-regular basis or across the country and you will understand why someone would want one.

 

X2 on waiting for what you really want!... That is a lot of $$$$ to spend on your second choose.. Hunt around, be willing to travel for a good deal.. They are out there. Also, have you ever owned a Black truck??? To me, nothing looks better going down the road when she is clean but keeping her clean is a JOB! Every small scratch and dent is magnified...Extra Cab or Double Cab..If you Need the space of a Double Cab for passengers Hold out for it!!! The passengers will Thank you!

It has 36k miles on it. I had a company car for the last two months and it has been sitting in the garage. I just started driving it again last week.

 

I guess I don't need a supercharger, I just thought it would be nice to have to bump the power up closer to what I'm use to, also the 5-6 thousand that they cost helps counter my trade in loss. I've had black trucks so I know how that is and I do have a 6 year old that will need to ride in the back. Thanks for all the advise, I'll keep looking.

 

With a 6 year old, I'd get the double cab for sure

 

this. no way would I make my kid sit in the back of the cramped extra cab. hell, I ditched the double cab bc I felt like there wasnt any room back there either though


If you have kid(s) the double cab is the way to go.

 

at $28400 cough up a little more dough and get a 2014 doublecab

 

The Baja is not a basic truck, it's a TRD Off-road with upgraded suspension. It should have pretty much all the options that Toyota offers except for the upgraded radio. I think they are all 4x4 too but not 100% positive on that. Out of those 2, I'd take the Baja.

 

Yes they are all 4x4. I'd actually utilize the better suspension on the Baja as I am offroad quite a bit, not always hardcore but sometimes. I don't care about the radio, I was just comparing the 2 but the fact that the Baja doesn't have the tow package kind of sucks mainly for the lack of tranny cooler and the bigger alternator(I will be adding offroad lights) .

I like the thought of having the extended cab v.s. the double because for me that's kind of the point of buying a midsized pickup, this won't be my only vehicle.


I didn't think they were priced too bad but that's why I asked. I just wish the Baja had the tow package and supercharger, then I'd be set. I'm still looking but haven't found much else that I like yet.

 

That's a decent price for the Baja.....you can always add a supercharger to it! lol

 

I also wasn't sure I wanted or needed the supercharger but dang...it's actually pretty impressive and there is a lot more to it than just "being cool."

I say go the supercharged route all the way, but both sound like nice choices!
