my alignment clusterf@#*

So i finished installing my other camburg UCA this morning and decided to go get my alignment.

I called a Mr.Tire shop and asked them if they could do the alignment on my lifted truck and they said no problem and to bring it down.

Got there and waited OVER 2 HOURS for them to get to my truck. Then they told me because it was lifted they were only going to be able to do the toe but not the camber and caster. FUCK THAT! I'm not paying $100 for a fucking toe-n-go. Told them to take it off the lift and I would be back another time.

So now i need to get the specs for an alignment on my 02 with a 3" lift so i can bring it to the shop with me next time. It has the OME shocks and coils with the camburg UCAs (does that change things?)





Anyone got the digits?

 

My guess is you should find a different/better shop...My shop didn't even question it...They just went for it...and got it right.

 

Why wouldn't they be about to align a lifted truck? I have never heard of this problem, everyone here has a lifted truck no troubles.

 

they told me they had the specs for a stock 02 taco and i should have received a paper with the specs from the company i got my lift from.... i didn't



so i wasn't about to pay just for the toe so i left

 

X3. Find a different show that doesn't like dick in their ass.

 

have have seen people on here post the specs of their alignment after it was done and people gave suggestions as to lower one nember or another number looked good...etc.


can't i go in with numbers to have to done right the first time?

 

Just take it to a better shop that has better trained techs. Either they didnt know what they where doing or where just to lazy to work on your truck.

 

A better shop would be the way to go. I don't know the specs for a 1st gen but I am sure somone here can post theirs. Thats insane on their part because the machine tells you where it is and you adjust to get in the green and match specs close to stock. Unless I am mistaken. I had mine set at stock then I changed it to what chris reccomeneded.

 

I took mine to a 4x4 specialty shop, it took them 2 hours, but it was done right. Find a better shop.

 

do that. although my mechanic did his best to align it when he replaced the steering rack and he actually did a very good job.

 

Ya, I think i will be replacing my rack soon too... Vibrations in my steering wheel turn out to be play in the shaft....

 

is that the same for each wheel??

and for the caster do you want it in the middle of those 2 numbers?




if they can't get it right to zero is there a margin that is acceptable?

 

Are these specs are the same from vehicle to vehicle? No matter in this case the Generation.

 

Thats what I figured just wanted to ask somone that know more.

 

oh yeah. mine had a torn boot and very small leak when i bought it, then i took her mudding (forgot about the boot) and made it a huge leak (abt 1 quart a month) because the muddy water got into the rack and system.

had to keep adding fluid through the winter until i got it replaced in the spring.

 

What I don't get is I have no leaks at all anywhere. Boots are perfect.

If I lift the truck at the frame, then move the wheel by hand like I were checking for play in the outer tie rod, it moves a little where the inner tie rod is, or the shaft that attaches the inner tie, hard to explain...
