so i'm running into a new problem with my music... I've currently got about 50GB of just music that I'd like to be able to take with me in the truck. I don't exactly care if its on my phone sense I don't think I wanna spend the $400 to the get the 64GB iPhone (yes I'm limiting my phone to an iPhone because all my other electronics with with iOS and I don't want to have sync issues).

so my dilemma: how do I take all 50+GB of music on the road with me???

I've been looking into gettin a Pioneer head unit: Pioneer AVH-X5600BHS

and this has a USB input in the rear that I'm thinking I might be able to plug an external hard drive into that's got nothin but music on it.. that sound like a possibility to anyone??

how does it sync tho? specifically with iTunes and the head unit? I'm looking for something that can easily be filled/edited with iTunes but also works and can be controlled by the head unit.... i've always have stereos in my past car that could control my phones and I hate trying to screw with the music on my phone now while driving... I really don't like havin to look away from the road when driving

I know I want the upgraded head unit anyway for many other reason... I don't like the stock stereo..

also, as much as I like iPod's they're relatively expensive for one that's big enough to hold what i've got, plus in a short while I'll have more than any of them can handle....

I really like music and am constantly getting more.. wouldn't be surprised if I hit 80GB by the years end..

ok you got me beat.... currently sitting at a little over 10K songs... wanna swap some music sometime? haha

question there tho... with having it all just on a flash drive, can you view it by artist or just track number??? cuz i had a stereo in the past right when USB was really get in started and it was a PITA haven to scroll through all the songs to find that one you wanted to hear

that makes sense... I'm pretty sure all of mine are properly tagged.. at least the are in iTunes. and on the entune note. that's really stupid! I may not have 5K of [ABC] tracks but scrolling through the 1k+ i do have 10 at a time would suck!!

Nothing much. I haven't been bitten by the mod bug. A little plasti dip. And a set of Wet Okole seat covers with gun pouch.

iPhone 5 filled here. When looking at head units I could not understand why some have rear USB ports. I now get it, 160 gb iPod left in the glove box makes sense. I prefer the quality of AIFF which takes up more space.

Wracking my brain here and can't figure out what AIFF means..?? But ya, I'll deffinitely be making use of a USB input in one form or another and I inositol that it be rear so that I can wore it to wherever I want in the truck. Not I Longwood do I think the front USB/aux inputs are ugly but they also pose too much of a risk to break

What about multiple memory sticks or iPods categorized by genre or (abc) (def) and so forth?

this sounds ok at first but consider there's 26 letters in the alphabet, divide the music up so that each stick only has [ABC], [DEF], [HIJ] and so one and you'd have to carry, keep up with and organize, 9 usb's! no tot mention having to look through the pile to find the one you want for the song you want.. while drivin, no thanks!
