Yeah, do I really need them? Nope! Do I want them, you bet! Haha

Hopefully by that time I'll be running 4:88's and it will only be my winter vehicle and trail truck.

I understand the reasoning for putting holes in it, but I would definitely figure out what metal they used. Anything's better than the stock skid though!

Well i have a welder, some 1/4'' steel plate, and can get some tubing for cheap.
Plus when if i did a relocate when i lifted even more (after i get CO's) i'd have to get longer shocks then.

It's not really mine, it's a welder from dads work that just floats around to people that use it, if somebody needs it they just call around, find out who has it, see if the person who has it needs it, and if they don't they come over and pick it up.

It's pretty much stayed at our house for the last year and a half, but we're gonna have to give it back when we move.
When we move i'd really like to get something like this

So the axle mounts and tube mounts that ruff stuff sells are 1/4" steel, $16 for each pair, I have 4'x4' sheet of 1/4" steel, I wonder if I should try to make my own.

Unless your an epericanced fabricator. I wouldn't make relocating your shocks a first project.

You don't need it at all for 2" on stock shackles. And relocating isn't going to get you off the hook of not needing longer shocks once you go 4+" lift.

You don't need it and it's not worth it for you at all.

If you're worried about the welding i've got family that I trust for the welding, i'd just be cutting out the mounts, and fitting the tube between the frame.

I'd sorta like to do it just to get it over with so i don't have to do it when i do go with more lift (i may just do shackles, but i dunno yet).

See that's where your logic doesn't make sense. You don't want to do it now because the geometry will be totally different once you re lift it and get different shocks.

It's not like you can make a custom setup with X shocks and X leafs and then change too Y shocks and Y leafs and it'll work out all hunky dory and be perfect still. It won't.

    It's custom for a reason.

You don't need it and to me it just seems like you want to do it just to do it. And it pointless. Need I remind you how many people have 4+" lift with long shocks in stock locations. Much less the amount of people with 2-3" and just 5100s or equivalent shock.

Don't waste your money or effort.
