Body Armor Rock Steps

So I called Body Armor 4x4. They don't have a relationship with my company, and don't sell direct. The guy referred me to a distributor I work with (KeyStone), who dropped a hint that they might be purchasing the company, but don't sell BA products yet. So dead end on awesome pricing.

With that said, I like the way they look. If they turn out to be garbage a couple year's down the road, then $300 is a small price to pay. Will be purchasing these probably by end of month. OME suspension/wheels/tires (not to mention the truck purchase) in 45 days has put a pretty harsh beating on my wallet.

The more I see those steps, the more my Tacoma weenie gets excited. I like the clean look of them vs the bulkiness of true sliders. Granted they probably don't provide the surface area protection of true sliders, door dings, or even a jacking point. It's a step above the N-fabs I have. I know Body Armor doesn't have rave reviews here but I do have their rear bumper and love it.(Can't say the same about their ugly front bumper though.) Please give us a review of the steps when you get them.

 

I have them on my truck and I love them. I also have their rear bumper too and love it. The steps are heavy duty built and I have caught them up and they didn't bend or anything

 

Good to hear. Do you have the LED's and if so, how do those work ?

 

I think those would get destroyed at the first rock. It keeps emphasizing steel but no wall thickness is said and it says it mounts to the rocker panels which I'm guessing is where the factory steps mount, in which case it would damage the rocker with the weight of the truck on them which is ironic since that is what they were made for, sub'd for a review..

 

Didn't get the leds I bought the steps off someone but I'm looking into seeing about the leds

 

I think I'll get these. DO they come black? How about if it will fit a DCLB?

 

Yes black and I have dclb and they fit fine

For the LED's could I change them pretty easily to red ya think?

 

Thanks for the Amazon link. Hard to beat $280 with free shipping. In the Q/A it says they will fit 2014's...hope so...

 

I like the LEDs... I wonder how they'd look in amber so they could be hooked up to the parking lights?

I originally wanted these. But I bough the Iron Cross ones (similar look). I wished I would have went with these. These my brother has on his tundra, they're built MUCH stronger than the iron cross ones.

So I'm either going to try and sell what I have and get sliders or these.
Body Armor STILL doesn't have that "light kit" available. But you can make one up simple enough.

 

I saw the iron cross on another tacoma in town last week, didnt know what they were until you mentioned it.

good to hear that these are sturdier.

 

They have the same size as like the OME ones from Toyota which in my opinion were too close to the body. You can't get a good bit of your foot on these, especially if it is icy or wet and always wondering if my foot is going to slip out.

 

Those might serve well as snow scoops for those of us who live in snowy country.

 

Those look great. I was going a different direction but the price is right... Decision Time.

 

Update: Ordered these things through Amazon (via Anything Powersports). Package came in completely thrashed. Rails punched through the box and were clearly dragged across pavement or otherwise beat to hell. I'm not saying it's particularly the seller's fault; UPS has a habit of bashing packages around. But you'd think they'd ship 70 pounds of rail in more than a single layer of bubble rap and a flimsy box.




Sent a complaint through Amazon, and almost immediately received a reply to send pictures, as well as a phone number to contact. I called, and spoke someone relatively quickly, advised I would forward over pictures and asked if an RGA could be initialized. I was told it could take up to 3 business days for approval but she'd "try to expedite it". This was Thursday.

Since then, I have been entirely unable to get in contact with the company via email or phone. The phone goes directly to voicemail as well, so that's promising.

Anyways, I'm pissed. /rant.
