What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Hauled 1250lbs of tile, grout and thin set in one load and 550 lbs of tile in another load. Truck bed was about 1" off the bump stops on the first load and barely noticed the second load. Rode fine, at slow speeds didn't take it over 65.

Put 900 miles on it between yesterday and today...

 

I ask because all my life I changed them 'because it seemed like a good idea'. But they almost always looked fine and I often wondered: what goes wrong with a piece of metal? <g> So then later I started changing them only when the mpg average went down. But more and more I noticed that they look perfectly fine when I take them out. And now some makers give replacement intervals of 100,000 miles. So now I really never change them. <g>

So I was curious what prompted you to change yours when you did.

Service cycle is 30k miles on the Tacoma for spark plugs.

We're you opening it or did it break while driving ? Just curious. I put mine on in September and no breaks yet. I'm super careful with it.

 

That happened to me a couple years ago with my bestop! Don't even THINK about opening them in single digits or lower. Mine shattered like glass in -3 weather one day trying to load wood pellets.

They're good as long as you don't bend them. You can even open them a little, but as soon as they start to curve it can break.

I try not to touch my at all unless it above 30 out, just to be safe.



FYI, bestop replaced mine under warranty. Forget if it was a 1 or 2 year warranty. Worth asking anyway if it's not that old.

 

On Tuesday I drove from Folsom, CA to Tulare, CA and back and yesterday from Folsom to Pixley, CA then to Shafter, CA and back to Folsom. This was all for work.

 

I've done 2,900 miles in 52hrs before. Drove a Uhaul and car hauler from Mcguire AFB, NJ to Tacoma WA. It was not fun.

it was yesterday but I put a 3inch old man emu lift and the light racing upper control arms on my truck with the help of the wife.

 

Ya, it was. I went I76 to I90. It was my best friend and me. The only stops we made were gas/food and we stopped for 45 somewhere in Minnesota to rest.

 

Installed SPOD switch panel. Switches put into the center console. Center Console currently being Line-X'd.
