I came to the conclusion after hurting a friend's feelings yesterday that sometimes people are not actually looking for advice but for someone to just approve of their choice they are already planing on doing. This guy is planning on get an engage kit from the start and its clear that he isn't going to change his mind. Is the kit kinda janky? Yes but at the end of the day if this dude isn't complaining about it later and he taking his truck out and having fun why the fuck do we care? :notsure: If the shit breaks he knew what he was getting into if it doesn't then right on.

No just hiems. Just saying if you ever wanted to add spindles, you need new uppers. Just something to consider if you plan on getting spindles later down the road.

Ya. They have race spindles, regular lift spindles and 4x4 spindles. I have no clue on price though.

I believe tc's spindles are $1,400 but the quality is amazing. I've seen them firsthand. As for engage, pm Socalrunner. His were starting to crack at the welds.

I don't see why this ^^is so hard to understand...lol I wasn't even seeking approval, my first post even talking about getting the kit openly says that despite most peoples opinion it's what my choice is, I'm not new to the thread, I'm no stranger to the other forums I have done research and read all the same threads you guys have. If I have my own plan then that's fine, no innovation comes from buying the same cookie cutter things that everyone else has..

It comes with heimed uppers and heimed steering...that was another big reason I bought engage....I needed heimed uppers for alignment...and am very satisfied with the solid mounted lowers.

Did you weld your cam tabs or did you do something else?

heres where i stand on my Engage kit…aside from the fitment issues from, the LCA, the spindle guests, chopping the misalignment spacers, the shock top hat bending on the first trip, the spindle adapter hitting the lower control arm when turning at full droop, to having to add new bungs in the UCA to get a better alignment out of it, but what pissed me off the most was after spending that much money the kit came spray painted which lasted about 3 weeks on the central coast before rusting to shit…as much of a pain in the ass all that was it all worked out in the end and took everything i threw at it and i beat on it pretty hard. Like some have said it never left me stranded it never broke down and aside from the bump steer it rode alright. but would i buy it again? no i wouldn't…it was a killer deal i got last year on black friday because it was all i could afford so i went with it, and now the trucks at DTF getting his kit, now that i can afford that. but what i wish i would have done was just waited, saved cash and got a better kit in the first place. i think when your spending so much money on something it should leave the shop next to perfect especially something that is in the front of your vehicle and has to be safe. Engage i feel has had the same kit for years with this same issues, Hass has always been a real cool dude every time iv talked to him and I'm sure his shop has the talant and means to turn out something much better after seeing more of there recent work, but i think they just need to acknowledge that there is things wrong with there kit they sell now and design a new one even if they have to charge a bit more. just my 2cents….but like i said it never broke down on me or did me wrong other than fitment and some bump steer, but my kit will be going to a new home this weekend :D

I had to spread the lca mount so wide that the cam bolts weren't long enough to go through lol....ended up breaking a few cam bolts...

Although it may not seem like it, everyone's just trying to help.

I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings, but the only thing that I openly disagreed with you about is this comment:

There is sooo much more that goes into developing a bolt-on LT kit, especially if it is going to work right. Steel is relatively cheap, but that's about it. Quality welding is not as cheap or fast as you think, neither is proper fit-up, fixture work or CNC milling and cutting.

Then factor in things like quality hardware, finish coatings and periodic modifications/improvements that companies like Camburg make to their products. It's actually pretty amazing that these companies can sell their products at these prices.

Its been said, but my kit cost more then an engage because it comes with a lot more.

Engage is lcas, ucas, and tierod extensions. Idk the price. $2200?

    Mine comes with:
$1200 - fabbed lift spindle with new geometry to make steering easier in rough terrain (yes they do make HUGE difference in handling and the speed you can go). Also has double shear steering mounts, double sheer upper arm, double shear lower mount. My kit was designed complete from the beginning. (TC charges $1400 for all single shear mounting).

$500 - FULL heim steering with ss rack adapters. Not just an extension. (TC charges $490 for one sided heim steering, no rack adapter)

    So $2200+1200+500 = $3900. I sell for $3800

Seems like a deal to me if you want to piece together similar parts that are inferior. Just depends how far you want to go with your suspension kit. Nothing wrong with just an a-arm kit if you are just going to have fun. Other people can beat the crap out of their a-arm kits but as stated the new spindles make everything nicer. And if youve pulled apart the inner tierod, youll see why I choose to do full heim steering.

And your statement about the cost to build is just heims+metal.... youre assuming shops dont have to pay bills to keep the doors open and that we dont need to make SOME money to pay for new tools or fix/replace the tools that have broke. Plus ALL those other bills/expenses to run a business. Each kit does take a lot of time to clean parts, assemble, machine parts, and weld and my employees want to get paid to work. I dont make much on kits when all is said and done. That is real economics.

My feelings weren't hurt, just got frustrated. I know people are trying to help and I do appreciate any little but of help I can get, it just seems that help usually turns into down talking when there's really no need for it. I'm not saying that r&d is cheap but essentially after you make a solid design and put it into production it's now only time and materials vs the price tag. I know it has to back pay for all the work that received no profit in the start up of production but I don't feel price is relative on some of these kits. I do love that camburg constantly rethinks their designs and continues to grow, that's a good way to do business but that's just not the kit I want to run. After I'm all done with my kit I feel people will see why I went the way I did and ultimately I'll be happy with my truck which is all I'm trying to do
