I did a ride with a group of buddies back in September. We took a ride up the coast. Round trip was just under 500 miles. The group consisted of several big twins (softails, glides and a Big Bear chopper) and the guys were a little worried with my lil 48 keeping up. We stopped every 60 to 70 miles to gas up and by that time, everyone was ready for a break anyway.

I enjoy riding my 48 and don't mind fueling up when I need too.

I love the lines of the 2 gallon tank and would never dream of "upgrading" it. It's pretty much why I bought the bike. A lot of riders say they "couldn't imagine riding a bike with such a little tank". It's definitely not a Road King, but I have my SV if I needed to do a ride where the gas stops were a little "distant". My 48 is more capable than people think. Cheers.

Yeah, I wouldn't "upgrade" either, I probably would have bought a 48 instead, IF they just could have figured out how to squeeze more gas in there without making the tank larger, if that makes sense. The first Sportster I looked at was a used 48 that someone had added a 4.5 gallon tank, bigger seat, windshield, etc. It was nice, it just wasn't a 48 any more.

I agree with you. If you want that big of a tank, why not buy a Custom?

Thanks, I have a true love affair with my RC 51, She has many track days on her, but now just a street toy. My Zrex is the monster now. I will have to post a current picture sometime. Dyno is running 160 to the rear wheel.
