Lost the trailer and truck due to ice. Thanks to my relatives D-7, things came out o.k., other than a few little scratches.:)

    Thanks

Never would have thought of burning mulberry. Usually just chase weasels around the stuff.

Nope. Roll start, all the way. Every time.

We did have an old Jeep CJ when I was a kid that was like that. Starter was toast, and rather than replace it we always parked the jeep on an incline. Since my parents live on top of a hill that was easy. I got really good at 2nd gear starts...

Stop trying to snake his Madrone, Oz!
Sounds like you're like me, always on the lookout for firewood, even when the ricks are all full. Drives the Girlfriend crazy when I stop to ask people if they're going to do anything with that blowdown, or pull over and pick up limbs that the power company has trimmed back and hasn't chipped up yet.

Ty sir, it's not the best looking shed (built from recycled wood from an old shed) but gets the job done :) maybe I should paint it, would def make it look better.

    Wow, from last year?
Well, at least now we can ask Rasko how it burned...
    Maybe that'll provide a hint.

Looks like Ash to me, though.

I'm gonna have to say no for black walnut, the heartwood is not dark and the bark ridges are to orderly. I guess I have never cut white walnut(butternut) to know what it looks like inside, but the bark is the same as black so i would have to say nay for white also.

I built my storage shed and included firewood storage on the side. Can fit about a cord of wood in it.

On one side I have hardwood and the other pine. It's tough to tell but in this pic, the pine (right side) is actually in the back row. The hardwood (left side) is in the front row.

So my girl got me a new saw for Christmas this year, finally got a chance to test it out. Just bucked up some 1' or so diameter oak dried about 2 1/2 yrs. cut like butter, really like the saw. The power to weight ratio is awesome. It's a husky 562 xp with a 24" bar. What kind of saw do you all use?

Great Christmas present Motob. I've heard good things about weight to power ratio of the new huskys, nice to hear it from you as well. I have used Husky 372 XPs for the last ten years.

Makita 6401, sorry no pic it's up my dads...my dad uses a husky not sure of the size...they both cut great. I bought the makita on CL for 300 bucks...it works great and is made by some German company.

I have a Stihl MS250 18". Kinda wish I would have bought the Stihl Farm Boss 18" (for power). I also use an large old 20" Stihl of my Dads for felling and bucking the stuff much bigger than 30" or so.
Really a man needs at least two different size saws.

I use a Stihl MS260 that I purchased in 2005. I basically told the salesperson I'm cutting for two households and he recommended I look at the lower end of the commercial/pro series. It's been great and never any problems. I've been through two stihl bars and typically a new chain every season.
Last week I cheaped out and picked up an Oregon bar/chain combo and was blown away with how well it cut:)
