Nope used cap gun nailers...there is half " OSB under everything. I am not running the job, so it's not my call. But I do understand what you are saying. I assume you think that from the hot and cold cycles that everything could start to work its way out? Or is there a different reason for your concern?

My concern would be the weight of the siding sagging down over time because the 1" of nail in the styrofoam

So I would definitely insulate the floor then

Otherwise the heat from the radiant tubes will be fighting the outside air, I am guessing.

It might be fine , I'm sure the shank size of the nails was calculated to not sag under the weight of the Hardi plank , I would have strapped it myself though , and a rainscreen cavity is code here

Actually, when I did a test run of the siding, I put quite a bit of weight on the
Lapped pieces and couldn't budge them. Impressed with the product, but no way I would ever spend the money.

I just finished pumping out the last of the home heating oil in a 275 gallon tank in my basement. I converted to natural gas so I don't need it anymore.

Anyone have any cool ideas for the tank? Its in great condition, less than 10 years old. I've seen a lot of people online make smokers and trailer bbq's out of them but I really don't need something that big. and it doesn't seem like it would make a very nice looking fire pit.

Going to tear out the carpet upstairs and will be installing laminate flooring (either Pergo or QuickStep). A few questions for you guys:

    - For underlayment, are the laminate planks with underlay already attached as good as getting a roll of underlayment and planks with no attached underlay?

    - Should I add a vapor barrier underneath the underlayment? The subfloor is plywood.

    - Is a circular saw good enough to cut the laminate planks? Any particular blade specific for cutting laminate I should get?

    - Deciding where in a particular room to start, I was thinking of starting at the doorway (hardest part first). Is this a good idea, or should I start at the easiest wall first?

    - Any other tips/tricks you can recommend?
I know to acclimate the planks for a couple days prior to installing, and making sure the subfloor is clean and level first.
Also know to leave an expansion gap about 1/4" between laminate and wall.
Will also remove base boards prior to install.

    Thanks.

The things that immediately come to mind are: clean it out and buy bulk gasoline, diesel, etc. or shoot it......a lot.

I bought a kreg pocket hole jig and have been working on building a work bench with it. The kreg jig is awesome. Definitely takes more time but it's great to not have any visible screws when I'm done.

Still need to add a lower shelf and clear a spot against the wall for it. But here it is. I'm going to belt sand the top nice and smooth too.

Time to Tile the floor after getting the drywall mudded/sanded/painted. Did the electrical work this weekend and got all my new lights in. Kind of pissed - replaced the entire ceiling and I gained 1/2" of clearance, but now the old vent fan over the shower sits proud. I painted up the whole fixture but over looked this little detail. Going to pull it out and see if I can recess the whole housing (not sure how it is attached to the rafters up there). If this won't work, then I will just build a little 1/2" enclosure to cover the gap.

The tiling is scaring the hell out of me though. Not sure why but it just seems like everything to this point was somewhat easy. Once the tile is placed, there is no easy way of removing screws to readjust if I am not happy. Have a wet tile saw that I borrowed from my Dad so I can make my cuts. Been trying to figure out the best way to lay the tile - thinking of whole tiles along the tub and center them on the centerline of the room, leaving equal cut pieces on each edge, then working towards the entrance and having the remaining tile cuts at the door way.
