    Bone stock for now....
About to pull the trigger on a new set of Toyo Open Country tires to get my FJ Trail Teams mounted. My DCSB Sport is currently not lifted or leveled, although I do plan on one or the other down the road.

Any input on which tire size is best? I'm thinking if I go with stock and then end up lifting it 2" I will wish I had gone 275/75/16.

My research leads me to believe the larger tires will fit my truck as is with no issues.

    Thanks for any input.

The threads here indicate 265/75R16 will fit a stock Gen 2 Tacoma and they do fit my slightly lifted 2012 Tacoma just fine. If you go to 285/75R16 or the "tall & skinny" 255/85R16 fitment you will need to trip flares a bit and possibly cab mount chop depending on wheel offset, wheel width, camber settings, etc.

I would go with the 265/75. I have them on an otherwise stock truck with no rubbing.

Just ordered Toyo Open Country 265/75/16 from Tread Depot. Can't wait to ditch the Dunlops.

Are you running different wheels than stock? Sport models have 17" wheels from factory.

On a related note, I am looking at the same size and I see I can't buy Toyo Open Country AT II or any Toyo at Discount Tire anymore. Dang.

Good, was hoping you weren't about to get a nasty surprise. 265/75s are a good fit on stock tacos.

It was $702 shipped. $146 per tire, pre tax. P tires, not the LT. Load range 114T, 41 lbs.

Thanks for looking out for me. I've pulled off bigger feats of stupidity, but that would have been pretty bad.

Well, all tires came in and I was able to get them mounted today, hope to get them on the truck this weekend. The wheel/tire combo weighed in at 65 lbs vs. 61 for the stock sport wheels/tires.

They look a lot beefier than the stockers. Had to tell the shop they were for an 05 FJ so they would use non TPMS valves.

Interesting you changed wheel sizes from 17" (Sport) to 16" (Off Road).

I run 265/75-16 in several different brands, and never a rub off roading!

My only real concern dropping to a 16 was lateral grip on pavement. I went with 16 for better off road performance when needed plus, even as mall crawler, I tend to hit stuff. I park in end spots and frequently snug up against the curb to avoid dings and in the urban jungle of DFW, which has so much construction it looks like a war zone, more rubber will likely come in handy.
