35's are out of the question thank goodness. Just dropped the truck off to DTFab for a cab mount chop and other clearancing for the 33's. I don't even wanna know what would be involved with 2 more inches of rubber haha.

 

I hear ya man. I trimmed and hammered the hell outta my inner fenders to clear my 33s and now that my caster is a little lower with my last alignment, I'm still rubbing on the front inner fender in reverse, FML!

 

Is this badassery every gonna turn into LT or are you just gonna continue to tease all of us with this BEAST?

 

Yeah 285's involve a lot more than people play them off as if your intentions are to utilize your suspension in any degree. Doesn't really bother me as long as its done right. Anthony (DTF) has some really unique things in mind for this clearancing project, I can't wait to see what he comes up with.

I know it seems to be a fairly common transition, but I'm actually leaving it as a midtravel LOL. Blasphemy I know, I know.

My intentions with this truck driving it off the lot didn't involve big air or spending weekends doing "valving" or filming badass videos haha. I just wanted a nice, clean and useful truck FIRST, that just so happens to do just fine off road. Having restraint with mods is retardedly hard I know, especially for these kinds of trucks, but this will be used as more of a truck than a toy for me in the end.

.....now that's not to say I won't have an LT project in the future, it just won't be with this truck haha. That said, if I come across a RARE 95-97 single cab Tacoma 5-speed 3.4 V6 prerunner or 4wd for the right price, you can bet I will skipping the midtravel stage.

 

I just love how clean this truck is...

Well got the truck back from DTF yesterday. It was in to get a cab mount chop and extra clearancing for my wheel/tire combo.

I'm running 1.25 Spidertrax spacers behind TX Pro wheels(10mm offset = 4.64 backspacing) which ultimately becomes 3.39 backspacing give or take. So you can imagine, it needed a little more lovin' in addition to the CMC to run my 285/75r16's comfortably.

Well, Anthony does it again with the DTF custom work.

DTF CMC + DTF inner fender trim + DTF custom mini flap/liner(semi truck mud flap hard material)...












Much better.






Official DTF seal/front emblem will be done in white and placed on my grill ASAP.

 

Out of curiosity, i have a question for ya! How come you went with ADS suspension instead of others such as FOX/ICON? Any advantages that made you lean towards that and how do you think it compares to the ones i mentioned before? I'm trying to weigh my options. Sweet truck! My favorite part is that front bumper! Good work!

I was a diehard ICON guy, until I decided to upgrade the suspension on my truck last year and saw the ridiculous "new" pricing in effect....I knew there had to be suspension that was just as good(if not better) for a lower price. Nothing against Icon, but I think they have lost a little direction in their OEM replacement market since their Donahoe days in terms of shock tuning. They still put out decent shocks, but I don't think they are as good as they should be FOR THE PRICE. Yes, a lot of people buy them and are happy(as was I back in the day), but I honestly put ADS on top of ALL the big manufacturers(King, Icon, Fox) in terms of shock tuning out of the box for OEM replacement stuff.

I knew ADS was around, but never really knew a lot about them. I just knew that the people who did run them SWORE by them. I was intrigued by the "small company" doing big things in the desert shock world, and holding the highest quality in parts with awesome customer service. I really have Matt @ MCMFab(username "M C M" on here) to thank for turning me onto ADS.

Here are the advantages I see ADS has over the competition(in the OEM replacement market).

1) PRICE. You won't find a better built set of shocks for the price, period. I put ADS quality up there with King & Fox ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. $200-300 cheaper than an equivalent big manufacturer set of shocks or coilovers.

2) ADS has multiple stroke selections available on their rear OEM replacement shocks to optimize your specific rear leaf setup. My rear ADS shocks were built specific to my expanded/collapsed dimensions of my rear "stage 1" SUA. You don't get to choose shock dimensions to optimize your setup with the big brand oem replacement shocks.

3) ADS has a triple seal design that adds a 3rd shaft seal for better sealing. This seal is specifically designed by them and made only for them so no other big brand company is using that seal.

4) ADS has a much higher quality piston design which is hard anodized compared to other big brand oem replacements.

5) The rear piggy back reservoirs of the ADS shocks are fitted off the bottom so the divider piston isn't "plunging" on the compression side which makes for a much more efficient design.

6) The tune out of the box for ADS is phenomenal. This is where I believe they leave the big brands in the dust. ADS spends a lot of time on valving before the customer even gets it to their door. They have a great grasp on rebound as well which prevents you from getting that springy feel on the small bumps.

7) Awesome customer service. If you don't like how your shocks are performing, ADS will do everything to make it right. You really don't get that with the other big brand companies.


I only have great things to say about ADS, and I would put them up against any of the big brands on any given day. I would suggest you take a look at them first before you whip out the plastic for a set of Kings/Foxes/Icons.
