883 and OME shocks

Do you by chance have any pictures you could post of your truck with the 884s on it? I see the pictures with the 883s but I would like to compare the two. I am going to do the same setup on my truck but with the wheelers HD replacement leafpack.

I too just stumbled on this thread and I'm doing the same thing: I have a 2014 DCSB 4x4 TRD Off Road that I just want to level, with my 265/75/16 BFG T/A KOs. I was all set to get 883's with the 90000/60091 shocks all around, for about 1.5" of lift for a front level (which is what Toytec says to do). Now I read from you that 883s won't level a DCSB 4x4 and that 884s are a better bet. Do you have the standard OE 3 leaf rear (2+1), or did you TSB it? Did you have to do anything to the rear other than put on the OME shocks to achieve a level stance with the 884s? I'm worried that I'm going to put on the 884s and then end up with bro lean...

By the way, your Taco looks perfect - JUST the way I want mine to look. I assume your pics are with the 884s, right?

in any case, my truck is level. With the 883, it wasn't level and I could feel it driving and braking. I haven't done anything to the rear of the truck other putting the new shocks on, I'll take pics of the rear when I take pics of the truck, I can't remember if mine came with the TSB or not.

I dont have hub to fender well measurements...

- No, the first pics (post #8) are with 883, you can see the pitch, the second set are with 884. If you look at the pics from post #8, middle picture, take a look at how the rear line of the bed dives to the front of the truck.

 

Thanks for the info. Your truck looks great. I'm still wondering about the rear springs. Another poster mentioned something about TRD Sports having 4 spring packs, whereas TRD Off Road has 3 (as mine does). The rear of your truck seems to be higher than mine.

 

Mine has a 3 leaf spring in the rear, so that's the TSB.

I don't know anything about 4 leaf springs except for maybe aftermarket setups.

 

So, based upon your experience, I ended up going with the 884s in the front, with Nitrocharger Sports on all four corners, and a 1.5" AAL on the back (which I may not install if the 884s level the truck). With the TW discount, I got my kit from Toytec for $784, and that's with the coil overs assembled.

 

I'm actually looking into doing the same thing with my 2012 DCSB Sport, I have stock 4 leaf rear, I'm fairly sure that's the difference between the Sport and OR options. So you did the OME Nitro's on all 4's with 884 to give you your lift in the front to level, any issues with vibrations/alignment?

Also, did you do the install yourself?

How did your lift turn out? Any before/after pictures? I take it since you did the preassembled shock/struts, it was just a bolt off/bolt on, any issues getting it to fit easily? Ive heard the lower control arm is kind of a pain when trying to put in the new assembly. Any spacers?

 

My kit is actually still sitting in the box! I haven't had time to put it on yet, but will try this weekend. I didn't get any spacers. I'm hoping for about 2" up front and 1.5" in the back, which should shave the rake a bit.

Nice, looks pretty good with stock sized tires too. now I just have to come up with $800, haha. How long did the install take you? Any snags while doing it?

 

I also have a 2013 DCSB 4x4 and plan to lift it with 884's and Blisteine shocks set at 0, which I have already purchased. I also got a 1.5 in. AAL for the rear. I will do the struts first and see how it looks. Based on your photos, I may not use the AAL. Thanks for sharing.


I figure with 2 in in the front and adding 265-75-16 later this year I will be right where I want it.

 

I ended just paying S.W.A.T. Customs in Fremont, CA to do the install. It was $380, plus $140 for the alignment. They did a solid job... and I got back a weekend. No problems with the install.

 

Do you have any before and after and after measurements haha?
