And the sad thing, my mom taught Joe Montana's daughters and I take care of one of his vehicles, and he has never personally signed anything for me... Even if I have it in front of me, with a Sharpie, and he's talking to me for 45mins plus.

j/k I only responded because of reference to Montana, I never personally met him , I know a couple guys that have & tho' he's personable on TV, I was told he's kind of a dick in person...

 

From what I've heard he is a dick and a douchebag. His son attended UW to play football and wash't good enough to start. His daddy lost it a few times and tried to play the "Joe Montana" card several other times. It got bad enough that his kid transfered out. The media has somewhat tried to keep it on the down low but a few of the local sports media people witnessed a few of the different times and got stuff off the record from asst. coaches etc. It comes up occasionally during their shows.

He was tabbed to start when Jake Locker went to the NFL but he couldn't beat out Keith Price on the field and I guess it got ugly when Sark chose Price.

It could be part of why I call him over rated, just don't respect him.

 

I met Drew Bledsoe years ago at football camps in Oregon. He was a complete asshole too. He stayed around long enough to do his 5 minute speech and pictures and was gone the rest of the week. Brian Habib on the other hand stuck around the entire camp teaching every position he ever played.

Only reason I brought up Bledsoe is because he is from Walla Walla

 

Aye, I've heard he's calmed down quite a bit as he's gotten older :shrug:. I don't really follow him much though as a Husky, he of course was a Coug.

I think a lot of these issues are just how amazingly talented these guys are in their craft. To be recruited when you're in Junior High and from the time you're 14 treated like a god. I imagine it's hard to be "normal."

That's why I think it's so cool when an athlete comes along that is really down to earth and can actually talk with fellow humans. Russell Wilson is like that, as is Felix Hernandez. Ichiro on the other hand never once did an interview with the local media here in english even though he could speak it. Jamie Moyer is also a total douche which is funny because on camera he comes across as a upstanding guy and the major media love him. The smaller local guys rightfully so can't stand him. All kinds of stories about how much of a douche he is. Demanding special treatment at events etc.

 

I'll agree that Bledsoe is a douche. When he lost his job, and the Pats started winning in 2001, Brady would run over to him all excited, and Bledsoe would just stand there with a look on his face like, fuck. complete douche.

 

Joe is actually really nice, very personable, but he doesn't sign anything unless he's getting paid. He knows the less his signature is out there the more its worth. His wife is super nice too. He is just such a big superstar he is tired of people coming up to him, which I understand. But you also have to understand that people are huge fans and its a privileged to meet a legend. Last time he hung out for a while he was telling me how I'll love the new stadium and I was telling him its my last year being a season ticket holder because I don't have 400k for PSLs for 4 seats in good location.

 

3 things that made me hate him.

1, The stage dive at an Everclear show in Boston..injured a lady pretty bad plus just being a dumbass when he's got a big game coming up.. http://articles.latimes.com/1997/nov/15/sports/sp-53979

2. My sister used to work in Boston and one day Bledsoe was right in front of her at a parking garage that didn't have valet. He got out of his car and said to the attendant "park that"..when the attendant said he couldn't "do you know who I am?!?" while people behind him can't get in the garage. Asshole..

3. Being so fkn butthurt about losing his job that he refused to be in the parade after the first Super Bowl win. Way to disrespect all your fans that always supported you Drew

 

Haha, well I'm glad you like him , & I've never met nor would go out of my way to meet him or any other " big superstar or legend".. But that statement above is what bugs me, I'd hate to think he's like that asshole Barry Bonds who refused to sign a baseball for a kid that was dying from cancer a few years back when the rest of the team did, when asked why he didn't sign, what do you think he said ??

...."I don't sign anything unless I get paid." That's waaaay fucked up if you ask me & don't put Montana on too big a pedestal remember, someone had to catch the balls he threw & accomplished or not , its not a license to be a dick to your fans or the public at large , it comes with the territory

 

I agree, and money from all of the games and memorabilia made them the rich mofos they are today.
