If I have a 220v breaker that looks like below, how do I tell the amperage rating? Usually they say right on the switch but it doesn't anywhere that I can tell. It's still wired and hot in the panel.

 

wire it up and plug 3 welders to the same circuit. You should be able to increment the current till it blows.

It's the main breaker. I can't tell what amp service is coming into the panel. Right now there's only (3) 10 amp breakers running off this main and I want to add more. Just don't want to blow something up if the main is only 30 amp for some reason.

Are there any open spots on the panel or is it full ?

 

Plenty of open spots. It was repurposed from a remodel so it had a bunch of breakers in it at one point. Now just the main and 3 others. Without calling the electric company and having them come look, I'm assuming this panel draws directly from the meter at 100 amp, but without knowing the main breaker size I'm not sure.
