Only 2 pictures I really took during my install. Yea I know very lacking, but it was colder than shat when I installed all of it so I wanted to get done quick. And 2, I was ready to actually be able to listen to my music "loud" for a change. What you see on my screen is my pandora from my phone bluetooth streaming to my in-dash. So far, I really enjoy it and it is so much of an upgrade from stock. I been so busy with work lately I haven't even gotten to trim my fenders to be ready for a good aggressive ride. Hopefully soon though!

I don't have all the pictures and the build process written up, but I was able to finally upgrade my electrical system. I am now rocking an Optima Red, 2 gauge battery cable, 4 gauge power and alternator cables, and a 140A alternator! No more flickering of headlights at idle with the stereo going!

I will be offering this as a package deal for 1st gen Tacoma and 4Runners at my shop I think. I haven't calculated the price yet though. I think it would be around $500. I might even offer it for a 2nd gen, but would need to have a test subject to measure out all of the cables.

Congrats on the Runner! If you want check out T4r.org and read up on them. Also, there is a mod to disable the VSC TRAC and ATRAC on them. If you need any help. Shoot me a PM and I'll be more than happy to help ya

Why would a person ever want to disable atrac??? I mean isn't that like getting an arb and disconnecting the airlines?

Same as disabling all the granny modes in a sport or O/R
Here is the link for disabling it. Sorry it's TRAC not ATRAC

Yeah I understand what you disabled now, just not sure why still. I use my track a good bit off road. Had never even considered disabling it.

because, if I am understanding it correctly, it doesn't work the same on the 4Runners compared to the Tacomas. The 4WD system on the tacos are different than the 4Runner. Yall turn to 4HI and it locks the center diff automatically. On the 4Runner we have to press a center diff lock button after we turn to 4HI. I am still learning every thing so bare with me! lol

Haha. How about I will do the kit if you cover cost, and allow me to keep the truck for a couple of days to measure and test fit everything?

You want VSC disabled because it de-powers the engine when things slip, in addition to doing brake modulation. Off road you want it to do the "fake LSD" where it brakes the slipping wheel to transfer power to the wheel with traction, but you don't want it to de-power the engine. In the Tacoma when you press the ATRAC button in 4Lo, you'll notice it disables VSC automatically.

In the 4R, there's not a button for any of this, it just does TRAC and leaves VSC on when you put it in 4Lo. The mod adds a button that disables VSC and leaves TRAC on, effectively getting it to what "ATRAC" does on the Taco, but at an older software revision.

It's still not quite the same, as the second gen ATRAC is loads better than first gen ATRAC and TRAC, but it's an improvement.

Also, there's no center diff in the tacoma, period. It's just a transfer case with a full time 50/50 split for true 4x4, where the LC's and 4R's have a diff for AWD on high-traction surfaces. You can then lock it offroad for a 50/50 split aka 4x4.

There's not really a need to lock the center diff all the time offroading in a 4R or LC, in fact I prefer leaving it unlocked most of the time just because it's less stress on the drive train under good traction conditions. I'll lock it if I start slipping, but it drives loads better with it unlocked.

The advantage of having the center diff is that in inclement weather like snowy roads or something, you can use AWD on pavement and not risk driveline damage from binding things up when you're on decent non-slick pavement.
