My experience is similar to Devins I grew up in Boulder. If you like the mountains you really can't beat the access of Boulder. That being said I would rather live most anywhere other than there. It has changed into a very snobby area with a lot of money (not a bad thing). I live in Fort Collins now, way better. The people are nicer, housing is more reasonable. I would stay away from campus about a mile if you have kids. Can get a bit rowdy.

She is high as a kite.

    New sig?

My room mates are big mountain bikers, so I'm sure we'll go there soon enough.

The bike didn't come with pedals, but I had some plain jane flat pedals that came on my dirt jumper (which I swapped out for more forgiving plastic pedals a while ago) laying around, so I used those.

Nice I use the platforms from crank brothers. On almost all my bikes because I came from the down hill world I like the platform but for climbing I can clip in with the egg beater.

You'd think that mountain biking would make them more diminutive in size. :D

    Not that's a game plan!

I started with egg beaters and bent one on a rock. Went to candys and couldn't be happier.

Yah, I'd like to have the option of clipping in or just standing on them. Do the candys feel big enough to grip your shoe when you're not clipped in? I like the mallets since they have pins

I have the mallets. I've had the candies but they are small. Get the mallets is my recommendation. Only because I like more pedal when riding, more xc riding the candys are the better choice.

I have candys b/c I ride xc. Mallets are a little overkill for xc but I would run them dh. All mountain I would still run candy, I think they guide the cleat in better than just an egg beater.

    Working on it.
anyone go to the mountains today? The weather was crazy. Complete whiteout from the wind. I went off the road and into 2-3 ft of snow drift to avoid hitting a car that was stopped in the middle of 9 right outside of Hartsel. Guy behind me had to do the same thing. Luckily I was able to get out with a little back and forth action. Hardest part was getting out of the ditch as the road was about 4 feet higher and the ditch was packed with snow. The guy behind me was stuck bad, so I pulled him out. (Jeep Wrangler) then 100ft up the road was a Ford Explorer stuck to the side. Which was why everyone was stopping. Guy with a new Chevy pickup was pulling him out but the strap broke and the guy just drove off. I hooked up my strap and was able to get him out of the ditch after like 30 min, that thing had no recovery points at all, I had to use the lower a arm and the rear axle, pulled him backwards, then forward. Road was all ice so I was spinning bad. Then I saw a F250 on its roof, looks like it rolled about 3 times and was off in the snow. Fire truck was pulling up right when I got there so I left. Then a AC tacoma went off and into the snow and was buried. Luckily there was a telephone pole I could anchor too and use the winch. Otherwise I would have never gotten him out. no damage to my truck and I helped out 3 people. Snowboarding was great too.
