An important question, is why is Saban interviewing and hiring defensive coaches while his DC is on vacation?

And don't forget that the job is much more attractive than it was four years ago. Tons of returning talent and more program stability. Throw in the fact that Garner is gone, too. Smart has said that HC at UGA was his dream job...realistically, this would be his best shot.

Read that too, and that he would also be HCIW...

I also heard Bama was interviewing Oregon's DC. Can't remember his name right now. But that fact they are supposedly looking makes it sound more likely that Smart to come to UGA is more realistic. Of course all this is just talk.

I've been reading that it's either Smart or Pruitt. Hopefully Smart, losing Pruitt after one year would suck. Also I do think Pruitt is proven enough to have a $1million+ contract.

I thought it was Ogeron (sp) they were interviewing. They are also interviewing our DL coach Wilson...

Out of those two, Smart would be the better choice. Richt probably only has a few years left, and Smart did say that HC at UGA was his dream job...

Wilson sucks. He's a decent DL coach, but was a terrible coordinator here.

HCIW never works out, it seems. I'm willing to bet that UGA would be happy to have him as HC when Richt leaves whether he's the UGA DC or the Alabama DC.

What makes you say Richt only has a few years left? It seems like UGA is never willing to fire him, and he's only 53... a toddler in head coaching years.

If/When the UGA job opens up, Smart will take it if offered, no question. I have no idea what's in his head, but if it was me, I'd rather stay at another school than be a coach in waiting under my 'dream job.' Also, through my Crimson glasses, I think he has a better chance at winning another NC at Alabama than at UGA. Of course, winning more NCs might not be as big of a motivation since he already has three as DC.

I read that Pruitt was a candidate, too.

The "HCIW" thing might seem attractive to him and to UGA because Richt has talked about retiring early in the past. I don't think he wants to be a guy that stays into his 60s. I could see him being there 4 or 5 more years and then retiring, honestly.

    Can't argue w/ that.

I'd put 5 years as the outside limit on the time I think Saban will keep coaching, too.. I don't think Smart wants to wait another 5 years to be a HC, though. I bet he takes a HC job somewhere else before either HC is done.

This is where I heard the talk, from Georgia Bulldog Nation's Facebook page. I don't know where they get their info from? But I know this, we all know the saying "if Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy" and it states that Kirby's family wan'ts to come back home. So it sounds good, just if the info is true or not?

"Richt left for Indy for coaches convention before the Coach Todd Grantham information became public, so he knew Grantham was gonna be going few days ago. The convention ends Wednesday . A hire should be made this week, so the staff and administration have been working on this longer than just one day..
From what I've gathered is that Georgia has offered Kirby Smart 1.5 Million per year, but this move is not about the money. Its about the recent moves in Bama's staff and Kirby's family and wife wanting to come back home."

Read somewhere else that if UGA can't land Smart or Pruitt, they're looking at Miss St's Geoff Collins.
