I have 06 preRunner and do occasionally go off road. Want suspension lift ( icon stage 3 or 4) don't want to waste money if it's not gonna give really good soft ride( don't want to hit headliner when going over bumps. Lol) also advice on ome Dakar spring pack vs aal. Do occasionally two trailer and boat. Have stock suspension with 3 leaf. I would love to ride in a truck that has a suspension lift. Thank you in advance for your help! Any input would be great. Also has anyone had buyers remorse after installing lift?

Are looking for a soft ride or performance? Can't really have both in terms of on road ride.

What are you planning to do with your truck, what type of off-roading if any at all?

You should probably spend a little more time researching whats out there.

Do the full OME Dakar pack. Stock leafs suck! And aal is just a band aid. Dakars and extended length fox, king, icon or bilstein in the rear.

Front is up to you and your $. But I'd def. recommend the dakars

Yes, you can. I know Down South can do them.

Yep you can get them valved this way, but then why get 2.5 Coilovers if you just want them to ride soft on the road. The minute you run them in the dirt at speed and hit a sizable bump you'll collapse them and run into the rubber bump stops. To me if you have no plans to actaully use a high end shock why spend the money.

Icons are generally firm on the road, but really soak up the rough stuff off-road. You can get their new CDC versions, that have a clicker adjuster for the compression. You can set them softer than how the Non CDC ones come if that is what you want out of the ride.

Did not say it was a good idea to do it. Just saying it could be done.

If you dont do a lot of off-roading you dont have to go with a lift kit that costs that much. Shop around..check out toyteclifts.com....they have a big selection.

^^^^^ Thats an option as well, just real spendy.

Speaking of which, do you have personal experience with the adjusters? I hear they don't really make a significant difference.

Ok, so Dakar leaf packs with 5100 billies. About the front, is it worth spending the extra dough and get uca's or just do combo struts w/5100's. Have these lifts really improved ride quality that much? I talked to icon today and they recommend just doing stage 1.

Thinking about toy tech ultimate kit with Dakar rear leaf pack. 1500 smackeroos would this be the best kit for the money and would it give a good ride on road with occasionally going down bum by dirt road. My wife said just put in new shocks( cheaper ) I think a complet kit is the way to go. Just don't know if I need uca's

Was considering the toytec as well.

Question to all you suspension gurus (don't mean to hijack op, but figured this may help you too): I was first leaning towards the icon, given the reputation, but then started reading that they really shine on fast paced desert runs. Most of my off-roading will be done climbing rocks on the trails here in CO with some snow runs in the winter. Should I then be considering OME vs Toytec? If so, I've heard that the Toytec will be better than the OME because the OME gets lift by preloading the spring whereas the Toytec does not. If I got this completely wrong, please forgive and correct me as I'm completely suspension illiterate.

I'm in the same boat as you and after 2 weeks of research am beginning to feel lost.

As far as toytec ulk, the icon stage 1 is only $300 more so it seems like it may be a better option.

That's what I was thinking until I read that the icon performs better in the desert opposed to slow moving back woods trails. Hopefully someone with some experience can chime in.

I don't think the fact that they run good in desert use necessarily means they aren't as good for mountains, trails and hill climbs. I could be wrong though. I don't see how an extra 1" travel would hurt as opposed to the standard travel OME or toytec.

I'm mainly concerned with a good ride on road and capable off road without needing to be top shelf race products.

I have the Icon stage 2 kit. I got the progressive add a leaf and after 10,000 plus miles my leaf pack is still pretty flat. I would go with a new leaf pack like the Dakar or All Pro Standards if you don't haul a lot of weight or tow. I will definitely be upgrading my rear to All pro expo leaves in the future!

Yea I have been doing a lot of reading and just cant decide. I started off wanting the 5100 Bilsteins but now I am looking at the fox icon and kings. and doing either a aal or rear spring replacement.

So stuck and confused. Really leaning towards Fox coil over. Not really going to be doing a ton of hardcore fast driving off road so remote reservoirs are probably over kill. and going with either total chaos, or ICON UCA.
