Not a chance. My truck is average at best these days. Lots of other trucks on here with more than a leg up on mine. The ones that come to mind are yours, JLee, jberry, monte, 45acp (once it goes back together), and several of the LT guys have some killer trucks.

Bumper turned out really nice Paul! You've got one bitchin truck.

I feel like all my favorite trucks on this site are all purpose built to extreme levels. From Jberry and his LT beast, to JLee's indestructible SAS rock crawling monster, to your overland expo rig.

You are correct. You should maintain the factory (slight) angle between the transfer and the carrier bearing. Then shim the rear to point the pinion at the CV, actually around a degree or so under to spread the wear on the u-joint needles and help distribute lube. This also helps to counteract any spring "wind up" under load.
There are good aluminum degree shims and there are bad ones. Look for "machined" or at least VERY smooth cast ones. Avoid any that have a slot as opposed to a hole for the spring pack centering bolt.
CB drops are just a band aid fix for bad pinion angle. That is fact that can be quickly documented as you have found. The 1st pic is what you want, just pretend your front (half) shaft is between "trans" and "CV" with the CB at the end. Many SA folks run 6" of rear lift with the CB in it's stock location. In extreme cases they will even "clearance" the CV to allow a greater range of motion.
