That 2.7L sounds like an awfully small engine for a full sized truck... Maybe it'll only be in the regular cab. Otherwise, that thing is ugly as hell!

    It's not a diesel.

Overall I like it. A little disappointed they didn't ditch the suicide doors like everyone else has though.

The 2.7L is the only one engine out of the four with an iron block, which I think means Ford will run high turbo boost pressures to get the needed power. I think it's a bit redundant to coexist with the 3.5L turbo, however.

Never understood this. What the Silverado, Ram and Tundra have is a "short" double cab and a "full-length" double cab, which IMO is redundant. Access cab is meant for cargo and occasional passengers. If you anticipate carrying people more often, just get the full-length double cab.

Why is it redundant? It has nothing to do with carrying passengers and everything to do with easy access. I only use my double cab for cargo but it's much easier to access when you don't have to open the front doors first. Not to mention it's even more of a pain if you're in tighter quarters trying to get something in and have the front door open one way and rear doors the other. I don't need the longer length and more rear space of a crew cab. I also don't feel the need to have an inferior door design. I don't see what benefit at all having suicide doors is compared to traditional opening doors. Having owned an access can Tacoma and now a dbl cab Tundra I would never go back to something with suicide doors. At least not in a full size.

At least it looks like these doors open all the way back which makes them a little more live able

I really like the grill but hate the chrome, curious to see what the color matched FX4's will look like

It has hints of the Tundra in it. The front grill and rear lights mostly.

I completely disagree with you on that. I hate that the other manufacturers got away from the suicide doors. It greatly reduces the overall size of items you can stuff in the cab by adding the pillar. For an access cab, I very much prefer the suicide door layout.

Props to ford for still innovating their trucks. Unlike Toyota

Wow, how many freaking buttons, knobs and switches can they cram into the center of the dash?!?! I count 29 or 30 in the bottom pic.

Other than the use of aluminum exclusively, I don't think this is a drastic redesign....Ford fans can't thumb their nose at GM over the redesign of the Silverado....both were failry conservative in their approach.

If they would've came straight up with the Atlas concept, it'd look 10x better. The Atlas looked proportionate. This looks like the firstborn of a F-150 and the new Tundras. They seem to have put that huge front end like the new full sized trucks seem to be doing, and rounded it out. Looks like a bearded whale. Like a tundra. Barf.
Ok, I'm being critical. Maybe it'll grow on me.
The interior is sick though. Minus 50 buttons.

Thanks! Haha looks much better no question. A 3" lift on that thing would look sick! Looks super low

In a Tacoma Access Cab, a forward-hinged rear door with B-pillar would result in an opening about 16" wide. Not only would this prevent bulky cargo from fitting, it would also require some contortion for a passenger to get in the rear seat.

I really like it, except for the tailgate (wonder what trims that will come on). Love the interior, and the weight reduction/MPG enhancements. Can't wait to see a King Ranch.

Edit: I think that's the Platinum tailgate, which makes sense. Looks similar to the current one.
