My old 96 taco was 90.00.

My 2013 TRD OR was ~680 new last February here in Colorado. I should get the renewal post card any day now, and I expect it to somewhere around $550. Not a cheap expense each year for the first four years here

    Things I need to tow.

You're living in a state that charges a personal property tax as part of your vehicle registration and I believe you have an 18 year depreciation schedule. The tax portion is based on the original selling price of the vehicle, so Benz and Porsche owners are paying way more than you. (I grew up there, but left years ago.) Many other states have similar systems. On the up side, you can generally deduct the tax portion from your income tax return. Where I live now (Idaho), they don't charge a property tax on vehicle registrations and they're more of a flat rate (like $60.) All states in the US do their own thing. (Note: I worked 13 years for the DMV in CA during the Reagan/Brown governorship.)

Yup mine is around $365. Ridiculous when my 88 corolla was like $80. I hear that its also because a truck is considered a commercial vehicle. If you put a camper on it supposedly you can reduce that amount because it becomes a personal vehicle.

Eh its CA what do you expect. Some would refer to it as the sunshine tax.

i expect mine any week now..shouldn't the registration price be close to what it was when you purchased the truck? I believe mine was $291.00 +/- a few bucks maybe..if i remember correctly. then again, california is not the friendly state when it comes to a lot of prices.:D

Oh. I may be the winner last week I paid 510 dollars to renew the tags for one year on my 2012 tacoma in kentucky. I moved here from Tennessee where it cost 24 dollars a year, I still horrified by all the taxes in this state.

How do you guys register a "truck" as a car??? Even my old S-10's that weigh lighter then cars had to be registered as a truck. Where you from in Pittsburgh? I'm on the Northside. My registration is $58.50.

    Do dents and scratches count?
Mine will be in the 350-450 range. The kicker is I just paid it in October when I bought the truck and then I will have to pay it again in January. Thank you Taxashusetts.

Mine was $125 this year, cheapest it will ever be is $45. My dad has a 99 5 lug that he still pays about $65 a yr for. And my mom had a 03 explorer that cost twice as much new but the tag was less last year for it than the 99.tacoma.
Even the dmv knows fords are junk.

CA - about $400 roughly around there, it sucks. When I lived in Texas it was like $40 or something.
