My GF has carried my Kershaw a few times.. especially now that I have new carry blade.

light. good grip with the G10 handles. very fast assisted flip open. mine is partially serrated instead of this full plain edge

Here is my dad's schrade LB7, uncle Henry, and made in the USA. I really need to find myself one, I want to carry one but can't bring myself to risk losing his. I'm hitting a gunshow this weekend to see if I can find one similar (aka old enough to be made with a serial number)

I have a dozen or so folding knives, some assisted, some not. Gonna let her try them and see what she likes.

It's tough because she travels, so either she checks her luggage for every trip, some are just day trips, or goes without anything. Which has been what she has done for ever.

I know Kershaw (KAI usa) released the new finish on a few select models last year (mainly ZTs), but their new lineup is badass!!!

Gonna order this guy when it's released. I wanted a plain edge Tanto, and this one caught my eye. 8cr13mov steel isn't the best, but it should be fine for a backup EDC. I'm curious how the black oxide finish will hold-up compared to Tungsten DLC. I like the 4-position clip as well.

lol, yup. Thought they are owned by the same parent company (KAI USA ltd.), they first released the Blackwash finish on a few ZT models. I think it was popular enough to add to their lower-end models too. The Cryo (and Cryo II) have been out for a while, but they do seem to "borrow" some design elements from the Strider for sure.

I think those knives are Ken Onion & Rick Hinderer design collaborations.

I called Kershaw today...they wont be seeing most of those until around May she said :O

The "Designed By" shit gets pretty confusing. I did some research on it, and it sounds like a big circle-jerk between Kershaw/Onion/ZT/Hinderer/Strider...hell even Spyderco got a complimentary reach-around in there.

I had typed-up a "lengthy" and more eloquent response earlier, but I scrappped it. It came off as too pretentious and confusing.

I like that response better :D
The striders and hinderers are very similar and uses the same style lock, but strider doesn't make a flipper. Look at the hinderer xm knives. The cryos are a smaller steel version.
    http://www.rickhindererknives.com

BTW, don't know if you guys saw it, but there is a new ZT out called 0566. Smaller stainless handle version of the 0560/0561 but with same elmax blade. Cheap too! Another hinderer designed knife. Very similar.

Yeah, those are older design from when Onion was with Kershaw. He just went to CRKT a few years ago, but was with KAI for a long time.
I know a few guys that are close personal friends of Ken Onion and Tom Mayo.
