I like, looks very similar to the Atlas concept.

Body didn't change much besides lights and grille. I wouldn't call it an overhaul. It looks nice

I hope when they overhaul the tacoma they don't ruin it

 

I was looking at that this morning. I'm not really a Ford person, but that is a cool truck.

"Ford promises a heavy dose of new technology throughout the truck: 360-degree camera systems, moveable LED spotlights in the rearview mirrors and even hidden ramps underneath the bed that can be pulled out to load ATVs and motorcycles."

They sold me with the hidden ramps under the bed. I would love something like that for my Tacoma.

Wonder how it will be priced.

Edit: Looks like the body is aluminum and not the frame. Oops.

 

Nice to see actual "truck type" upgrades. Ramps would be great for loading a lawnmower too.

Actually, I think the frame is steel whereas the body is aluminum.

The frame is still steel but changed to mostly high strength steel and the body is claimed to be mostly aluminum.

Nice. I've always been a Ford fan. I hated going to Toyota for a mid-sized truck, but at the time it was the best mid sized truck on the market. Even though I'm a Ford fan, the Sport Track sucked.


My needs have changed some and am considering a full size in the future. This will top my list.

 

I am a ford fan and also used to have a ford 150 ( 07). Still got my dad's '10 150 shortbox. I dont think I am selling the "10 .. keeping as a spare.. still drive the taco daily.
What made me cringe the size of the engine and using alum for body. it wont do good for towing light stuff. the front styling sucks.. if I ever need a full size it going to be either the dodge or chevy.

 

The frame isn't aluminum. As for price if you compare a comparable Ford truck to a Tacoma the Ford will be 5 to 10 thousand more. With the new aluminum parts it will be even more.

 

You can easily get a F150 XLT SuperCrew with 4x4 for around $30-32k, which is awfully close to a DCSB Sport or Off-Road. I just saw a commercial yesterday for 2013s in this setup for $29,999. And the F150 will have the same (or maybe more, I'm not sure on the exact features) equipment as the Tacoma, with much greater capacity to tow, haul, and probably get the same or better MPG.

I don't know that the aluminum will raise prices that much, at least at first. Ford will have to do something to convince people that the aluminum works...so I'd imagine prices will stay about the same and cut into profit margins slightly as to get people to still buy them.

 

Sorry, guys. I thought I read this morning said the frame was aluminum and I know now that's erroneous. An aluminum body is less appealing to me. I could be wrong, but it may cost considerably more to fix minor body damage.

 

I am not sure how you got those numbers but here is what one costs without much of what the Tacoma TRD off road offers. The ford is about 10,000 more if you add all the extras the Tacoma has. It is about 7,000 more without all those extras. Here is a link with the price.

Ugly! But this will make the 2014 FX4 cheaper when it's time for me to buy!
