Hey guys, I'm finally in the market for some new shoes! My 2013 crew cab Tacoma has a 3" lift and I'm wondering, if this was your project, what rim/tire combo would you go for? Keeping in mind I live in snowy Alberta so I would be looking at a AT all season....
    Thanks!!

    With a 3" lift on 16" wheels you could go 32" (265/75/16) or 33" (285/75/16) or with a 17" wheel you could do 32" (265/70/17) or a 33" (285/70/17).

I'm running LT285/65/18 Toyo Open Country AT2's and I love them. Awesome traction and mileage and they ride great. http://www.toyotires.ca/tire/pattern/open-country-at-ii

As for wheels, generally a 16x8 or 17x8 with 5" backspacing will clear just fine. Mind you, these are fairly conservative sizes that don't generally require a whole lot of modification to fit.

    Hope that helps.

Ok, maybe one of you can help me with advice. I have a 2011 Tacoma with stock 16 " rims. Can I replace them with Toyota or after market 17" rims? Any technical advice is appreciated.

If you have a V6 model you can swap for any 17" wheel that has a 6x5.5 (6x139.7) Bolt Pattern. If you have a 4 Cylinder I believe the bolt pattern is a 5x4.5 (5x114.3). With the 6x5.5 you should be able to swap to any 17" Toyota truck wheel with the OE tire size and should be able to fit without modification. If you're a 5x4.5 bolt pattern, OE 17" Toyota truck wheels are non existent if I'm not mistaken. You may have to go aftermarket.

Aftermarket wheels with proper width and backspacing should fit without issue, how big of a tire you want to go will be the caveat. Factors such as having a suspension lift will decide what size tire you can fit with your new wheels.

A good tool is the Tire Rack's wheel finder that will match wheels they sell to the vehicle you have. http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/index.jsp
