2011 tacoma v6 shifting problems

I changed my oil this weekend and while resetting the maintenance light I hit the button below the steering wheel a few times, started the truck while the button is engaged, etc..

I don't know if it is related, but my truck shifts funny now, if I stop, then go, my rpms will start normally but it is like the axle isn't engaged, then it engages and if I pushed on the pedal too much it will chirp the tires or just engage hard.

Sometimes when I stop, it will also thunk I think as it goes back into first.

I haven't checked transmission fluid levels, I'll do that tonight, is there anything else that I can do?

I think he might mean the tpms button...that's the only one down there

You sure you didnt drain your tranny oil right?

Yeah but if he did that he would have noticed that the engine was still full of oil when he went to put the new oil in.

 

lol, I've changed my own oil since I was 16, I'm 38 now guys

ok, that button is only for the tire pressure? I wasn't sure if it was other functions

 

I would have noticed if it was red or black fluid also

 

Yeah that lower button under the dash is just to reset the tire pressure sensor and thats it.

I went outside and checked... I drained my tranny and added 5.5Qts to my engine.. so tonight I'll be working on my truck in my company parking lot... great

 

un fucking believable.. it is driving me crazy thinking about it

 

anyone know how much tranny fluid I need to put in?

 

Dude thats not good!!! Your going to have to take it to a dealer I believe cause there is now dip stick telling you how much you have put in. A buddy of mine did the same thing on his 2006 V6 and he had it towed to the dealership.

 

there is an overflow nut on the side that you can add fluid through, I just need to know how much so I can pump fluid in there, my wife is going to pick me up during lunch and we can get the fluid from toyota and I'll just drain the oil in the truck now, and replenish it and then add tranny fluid to the tranny since I drained it. Then I can just have the dealership do the measuring to make sure it is 100% accurate

At least it was an easy diagnosis but that sucks. It happens though. I remember one guy drained the tranny fluid then proceeded to dump the tranny fluid into the radiator bexause they were both pink fluids. Oops.

 

Ouch!

 

Only use the toyota world standard atf fluid unless you really want to sctrew stuff up more.

 

Stupid hurts.
