I have a 2004 Taco with a 3.4L Automatic 2wd Engine! I am considering buying a new exhaust from http://www.trdparts4u.com/MC-HHA-CA.aspx! But I am second guessing it! I want to buy an exhaust system that will give you a low deep throaty sound but not as loud as the big dodge's! And if possible it will give me an increase in performance as well! All suggestions are good ones!

    welcome to tw,Ben!!!

for your exhaust........do you really want to pay that much for an exhaust?? thats an awful lot of green right there. have you thought about going to a muffler shop and getting them to cut out your old muffler and install a nice performance muffler(magnaflow, borla, flowmaster, etc.) and even a nice shiny tip?? its essentially the same thing, but costs a lot less, so you have leftover $$$ for other mods> just a suggestion.:)

i would suggest the same, the TRD exhaust is nice. But the price is not worth it. Shop around, local and internet. You will find a way better deal, and get maybe even better performance.

actually, Ben, i went to a local muffler shop, got them to remove my dual exhaust(got tired of it), and install the new flowmaster in the place where the stock muffler had been, then finish the piping with a polished tip, and it was right around $130........alot cheaper than any kit i have seen. sounds and looks good, imo.

yeah, the tip was from a local shop, but it was actually one of the tips from my dual exhaust. most local shops have these tips..........normally the kind of tips you see on trucks with dual pipes out the back of the truck. here is a soundclip of what mine looks and sounds like.........

the stainless will cost just a bit more, and it will last longer than the aluminized steel one will. i think soundwise though, they will be the same. go with whichever one you want to, cant go wrong with either.

the airaid is ok.....but there are better ones out there. if i decided to get rid of my airaid.....i may get the true flow xdi intake or the urd intake....not too sure though just yet. i like the airaid ok, but im not really liking oiled filters all that much anymore. one thing i may do is get an aem dryflow filter and fit it to the airaid kit, kinda like some people do with the k&n setups. it probably has better filtering qualities than an oiled filter anyway. i dont really wanna buy another intake if i can get the aem filter to work.

I did the Borla cat back system in Jax FL for my 2005 4Runner 4.7 V8 was 970.00 at the Dealer!!!!!!! At Muffler man (Rainbow muffler) I had them make it for 350.00 its a Borla single in & dual out with stainless steel tips. True its Galvanized but its LOOKS NICE & sound great & yes I painted it with about 4 cans of engine paint four years ago. I love it. I did the same thing on the Tacoma. That with a K&N cold air intake it woke up both of the trucks.....
