IMO it doesn't matter what/which company does... the only reason like most of us bought a Tacoma is from past experience and/or what they offer ... i'm not concerned about what other companies have.. IMO Tacoma is ahead of most and I don't want to get cold feet just cause another company is tryin to give them competition. without it there is no change.. I wouldn't trade my Tacoma for a 2014.. just cause it has newer features.. I love my truck and that's all that matters... if others find that gmc/chevy/ford have something for them.. then awesome.. but i'm staying right here.. until the day I have to bury my truck... second I do believe I would wait to let the new generations settle and fix kinks before I would purchase one of any type...again that's my opinion on all these threads like this..

Actually, the Tacoma first came out in the 1990's. There was a previous generation tacoma before the one that came out in 2005 that looks different and is slightly smaller and has a 3.4 instead of the 4.0. In the tacoma's early years, the truck was outsold by S10/Sonoma

Here is why I would buy it: The 2.5L Duramax® Turbo-Diesel joins the engine lineup in 2015. I wish Toyota would put a Diesel in the Taco

Toyota can put 4 wheels on a shit box and it will still sell because Toyota. It will probably be worth more than a new GMC Canyon.

This was the point I was making earlier. Was that the tacoma has been the best selling midsize truck since the 2nd gen came out in 2005. Always has been always will be a better pickup.

i love my taco, and not only love it... i love the people on here to educate me on what i dont know and BS when i need to kill time.

i for one will never but anything but a taco. yes i realize some have had there fair share of problems. but thats expected with any vehicle car or truck... just cause another truck comes out doesnt mean i would act a fool and get some infant baby eyes with the "OOOO SHINY" expression because of the new bells and whistles.

i hope after the OP buys this truck he comes back and tells about it with a non-bias opinion

Not to mention all new engines that haven't had a good run down. No one knows the reliability of them. They said in the auto show themselves, It's a whole different truck minus a few nuts and bolts.

Close to 300HP and solid axles? I'll take one. The 2009 Wrangler Sahara we had treated up well, and the 2005 Wrangler Rocky Mountain Edition I still have has never let me down after 111k miles. If this became and OEM thing and not an insanely expensive aftermarket project I'd be all over it.

My uncle used to work for Chrysler and mentioned a rumor about a Jeep pick up but also mentioned the bed being tiny. I don't know if that's true or not but we had both been drinking so take it with a grain of salt.

I don't know how much GM reentering the midsize truck market is going to effect the Tacoma. We all have Tacomas because we researched them. If any of us were to walk into a Toyota dealership and said we wanted a truck they would likely offer us incentives to buy a Tundra. I do not believe those same incentives would be offered to buy a Tacoma. If the Canyon or Colorado is what you want than go for it but I'll be happy with my Tacoma.

There must be some actual data out there regarding reliability/consumer complaints etc. between Toyota trucks/GMC/Ford/Chevy. Like a lot of guys, my limited experience tells me that Toyotas are more reliable, but to be honest, I would love to see some data rather than anecdotal evidence.
