Idaho BS thread in the PNW

There is a trail near here called the Naches Wagon Trail, some call it the immigrant trail. The first white settlers came across the cascades in wagons and blazed this trail. Some sections of it (~10 miles) still remain.

In the 15 years that I have been doing this stuff, that trail has become quite popular but unfortunately, as more and more people run it, it has become easier and easier. More like a freeway now compared to what it used to be.

This is because users with chainsaws and full size trucks continue to "enhance" the trail so they can make it through. Its too bad really. Too many people using too few resources. I am not surprised at all when some offroaders try to hide their resources.

One of my fav trails in the Big horns is closed now due to idiots going off trail cause a creek crossing LOOKED deep..but it wasn't. sucks

fucking ATVers and idiots in stock rigs.

its bull shit.

People need to be smart enough or comfortable enough with their rig to know when to just turn around.

i hate it.

 

I said down'd wood not cut the fuck out of the hill side so i can take the easy way.. but from this new picture it looks like it would be really easy to just drive around the right side of the stump. the only reason i wouldnt do this is if it was marked like moab this is the trail and dont leave trail. In that case i have a winch and not on 33's but where as i was saying 33's could do that trail we are back to no not that line and i agree with you there.

 

See the logs up on the right side? thats pretty much saying, don't go that way.

But yea..33s..not sure they would make it..maybe not even 35s. no idea.

 

its more clear in the second pic but i think you have to agree 33's would probably make it to the right if it was aloud..

 

well then givin this new info im back to my 33's chainsaw and now im adding a winch to pull me out cuz shit's getting deep.

 

No im not. I am pretty damn sure that trail is pretty damn hard. Some of it looks pretty challenging. But lots looks do able too. would be fun to try. I remember watching a vid of it last time we were talking about it and it was still running water. haha THAT would make shit..way worse..haha

I don't recall having too much trouble with Shoshone Lake trail. It may be the narrower, siped tire pays off in that situation.

 

It wasn't horrible. But we were going slow thats for sure due to it being a bit slick. Compared to saturday morning when it was dry.

 

ya getting back out of shoshone with it wet would have been more sucky than going down wet...

I'm not a huge Vette fan but the new '15 zo6 looks nice Think I'd still rather drive an FT-1

Jackson hole is so beautiful. This resort is freaking awesome monte. Wyo is a pretty amazing state

 

An interesting play on shadows. They certainly don't look like that in daylight or under bright fluorescent lights.

I agree with this! It already looks like everybody just goes around on the right of the stump and the left side is the hard line.

Hard to say without actually being there, but if you are locked front and rear I don't see why hugging the far left as close as you dare get to that little tree would be that hard to do on 33's. I'd probably get high centered if I hugged closer to the stump, but like I said the left doesn't look bad.

I'm still a big fan of skinnies! The skinnier your tires the more pressure you have on the ground and the stickier your tires are. Sure there are exceptions to the rule, like drag racing, but there are a lot of differences between drag racing and rock crawling.
