I ran a t04e 60 trim t4 with .58 ar on mine at one time. Front mount though. Boost around 1700rpm max psi by mid to upper 2k rpm range. I think a .63 ar t3 will be fine and may spool a little quicker/faster than the .58 t4 does. The t04e 60 trim is the turbo I was referring to that will put you up to 80% efficiency. Journal bearing is less than $1k. Go ball bearing and/or smaller/lighter wheel and spool up will be a little better. Garrett, precision turbo, borg warner, turbonetics, holset are all good. I am hearing good things on borg warner efr turbos. Built in wastegate, bov, and good spool up. Come in various sizes and price is decent for what you get. Going this route would save some time, effort, and hassle of plumbing in wg and bov with everything in neat package. If looking for used look for oem turbo from similar sized or slightly smaller engines for best spool up since you are rear mount. Heck a holset from a 4bt or maybe 6bt cummins are pretty tough and may meet your needs on the cheap but these are generally more efficient in higher boost levels vs low boost levels.

Its a .50 inducer t4. I primed the lines and pump prior to firing it up so I think I have to do something differently with my pump

Yeah I'm returning the one I got off of ebay and buying a 57mm trim garret with a urd turbo port fueler, bigger/extra injectors and all the necessary urd piggybacks from a guy on here. He is persistent on sending it all at once and not until the full amount has been paid. This will delay my install about a month, but at least Ill have everything I need to ensure the reliability of my engine. My truck sure is loud though with no muffler :/

Should look into a holset with a BEP (bullseye power) housing might be a little cheaper than a Garrett and will most definitely take more abuse!

Something in the 250-350cc/min range should be fine for that power level. Do a search and there are many out there you can choose from.

Ok the build is coming back to life now. 318 Primary injectors, URD port fueler w/ additional injectors and URD AIC are all hooked up and ready to go. Not giving power to the extra injectors until the turbo is on but I need to buy a tial wastegate and another oil pump (I decided not to trust gravity and the suction of the return pump to properly oil the turbo) for the setup to be 100% complete. Pics coming soon.

Turbo needs to be fed via high pressure oil feed line from oil pressure sensor port on motor. For drain use large diameter oil drain and one or more pumps with check valves.
Best to run oem size injectors as primaries and large enough injectors in port fueler that combined with primaries will cover your highest hp expectation. Running oem primaries will make it to where you will only need to focus on tuning in boost for open and closed loop vs with larger primaries you will have to tune vacuum and boost in open and closed loop.

The 318s don't affect normal driving. Gadget said anything below 400(ish) is non issue as far as the stock system goes. I already have the URD AIC tuned for that same engine, same injectors and same turbo from the guy I bought it all from. My oil rig is (or will be after my other pump comes in) more than satisfactory. Inline check valve, cooler and filter.

The AEM FIC claims to be able to tune injector pulse width, allowing bigger injectors...

Question, I have a water/oil cooled turbo. Hardware is included for oil but nothing for water. You planning on hooking up a water feed and if so how? Thanks.

318's will not effect normal driving when tuned for 318's. If you run them with oem tune game over. Fuel trims will be crazy off and may set off codes ect. AIC tunes additional injectors, primaries, or all? Your oil setup sounds satisfactory however does not sound reliable and sounds more costly than my earlier suggestion.

Water cooling not needed in most cases but nice to have. In a remote mount the turbo does not get as hot as normal front mount style where turbo is close to motor. In remote mount setups water hook up will be a waste of money and time in most cases imo.

Hmm... I think I'll stick with what gadget said which is that 318s will swap out fine with no messing around with anything else. I have been driving with them in my truck for almost a month with no issues at all whatsoever. Drives like a dream and even more so now that I swapped my MAF with one out of a supra (bigger). The AIC I bought was meant to control only 6 injectors.

I'm somewhat of an extreme explorer/surviver/zombie apocalypse nerd, so that's why I'm running the oil setup the way I am. If something goes wrong and I have no more spare oil/adequate tools/supplies to work with then I'd rather have a toasted turbo than a toasted engine AND turbo. These geared hot oil scavenge pumps can last 15 years or longer depending on how often you change the fluid.

I do not see 318's running fine without tuning as fuel trims will be way off due to having injectors ~33% larger than oem... Gadget probably said they will run fine when tuned. Unless different MAF meters less air than actuality making up for larger injector size offsetting each other?

Run oiling how you want. It may be best you run what you plan anyway with separate oil reservoir to potentially save engine oil starvation if you did develop a leak somewhere...

My Tacoma is officially turbocharged! Turbo, wastegate, and BOV are hooked up. 5 psi stock tune. I'm waiting for Gadget to get back to me to help with hooking up all the extra tuning stuff (since I bought it with no real instructions or vehicle specific wiring diagrams). Lots of pictures and technical info coming soon
