In my younger cooking days i was cleaning the slicer and sliced my index finger wide open. i work at a hospital so i just went down the ER and got stitched up, and got a few days off paid. Hmmmm...... sounds like a plan. Maybe i'll go over to the kitchen and "work" on the slicer...ooops :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Ehh... It looks alright. I black model shows looks better then the white one. I don't like how large that grill is. I'm sure the body panels will be thicker. Now way an aluminum body will be as thing as sheet metal. At least the body won't rust out. Still have to hope that engine gets you home though.

I landscaped for a summer and we had an old dump truck. It has those triangle vent Windows with those L shaped levers. Long story short, I tried to open it while we were driving and the lever was pretty stuck as the truck was a p o s. We hit a bump and I ended up punching straight through the window with my right hand. At first I thought no big deal until about 90 seconds or so later when blood came pouring out of the flap of skin I had hanging off the top knuckle of my pinkie. The er Dr said that if I had gone a mm deeper that it would have severed my tendon to my pinkie. 8 stitches later and I was good to go. Hurt like a Son of a bitch after but not when it happened. Still have the scar and it's been easily 5 yrs

I had a similar experience with a roll of aluminum coil a few years back. I was holding the coil on the outside when I snipped the strap holding it coiled. That sucker uncoiled so fast that it cut through two layers of steerhide on my glove and into my palm. An ER visit and 10 stitches later I was back at work. First thing my boss made me do was clean all the blood off of the coil of aluminum, and then he put me to work running the brake all day, bending said aluminum for trimwork.

I wonder if the aluminum body not being as strong or rigid as steel is what forced them into putting a high strength steel frame under it? :notsure:

No body rust would be pretty cool!

You know you like it :)

I'd be concerned about galvanic corrosion after a few years. I mean, anywhere that they have the aluminum body touching the steel frame (or steel bolts, nuts, washers, etc) they'll have to have a protective coating to keep it from happening. And not just for the frame, really. The mounting points for the seats, door hinges, etc will also likely be steel.
Not saying that it can't be done, I'm just not sure that it won't present a problem after a few years of driving. Especially in the Northeast, where we're spreading so many corrosion accelerators on the roads for six months out of the year.

The new corvette looks even sexier when you see it in person. There's one out here on Route 9 that cruises around at lunch time.
