the 3rd is, but the rest of the diff housing and axle tubes are not. I think the problem is that people just leave their welders on the regular setting for whatever lighter duty job they did last and go to town.

Wyatt actually tore his tabs off twice on his old setup, but it 's a different story when you run 40'' tires on leaf springs (soft, crawling leaf springs)

I was thinking about the ATO trac bar too... It would be nice to get rid of the "thunk" from the wrap when hitting the skinny pedal.

haha, took me a second to see where you were going with that.

 

From the always entertaining house of Tor last night, we did a real quick 3 qt drain and fill on the transmission. the fluid that cam out, while not pristine, looked better than i thought it would, after all of the wheeling and towing over the last 75k miles.

Brady, I got some pictures of the cracked LCA welds. it's still very small, which is a good thing, but it mayb e hard to see in the pictures. the cracks in each arm are in the center of each red circle.





the two or so people who i've seen who have torn stock lowers appart, have looked at the other side that was still intact, and saw almost identical cracks to what i just posted, so go inspect your arms everyone. the crack is easily confused as just a small rust spot, but if you look closely, you may find worse. get it repaired before you're stuck on the trail or side of the highway (and potentially seriously injured).

on a lighter note, i got a chuckle when i crawled under the truck and had blue paint on all of my skids from the car crush a couple of weeks ago.

In all honesty, I would likely have just noticed those spots as rust spots, until it was too late.

I'm working on rebuilding a set of LCA's now. I've seen a few pics of folks that have run a piece of steel around the outside of the bushing collars - I'm going to have mine reinforced before I install the new bushings for that piece of mind.

yeah, I've seen that too. great idea, and makes them very strong. I'd just need a second set of arms to do that, just like what you're doing, because if I'm doing a bushing out reinforcement, there are also some other parts of the arm that I'd like to beef up as well. i'll probably just bandaid fix these though, by slapping a new bead on there tonight, and then hope that I have LT arms on there before they disintegrate.
