    I agree 100%.

I guess either would be ok for 35's. I just would waste the effort on anything other than a 60 bc you ALWAYS want to go with bigger tires when you need new ones.

That being said...anyone interested in a like new (<2000 miles) set of 37/12.5/KM2's :D

it was under this (motor: 7MGE with dual tcases arb rear detroit true track front cromo shafts 5.29 gears)

i was actually going to do the six shooter but at that point i was tired of upgrading it and was going through a divorce. i also wanted bigger tires and was already breaking cromo's

you have field tested this?? cuz i have and the toy axle was not stronger.. buddy of mine had a D44 with rcv shafts in his chev he was on 38's and had a locker in front and a 350sb to beat on it with it was low pinion he took out the gears once were as i was high pinion and never lost a set of gears be i bent the housing once and broke bearings and cv's all the time so having that in my REAL WORLD back ground im still saying the 44 is stronger when it's built..

but in the end i say this is the way to go..

And did you read through all the threads on pirate?

but here, this is my best friends pile

    39.5 iroks

stock case, 4.7 case, dirty 30s, chromo drives, six shooters, arp studs

breaking t-case outputs, just switched to a chromo output

but no one I can think of runs a 44, just one guy with a 10 bolt, the rest are toy axles and 60s

You did notice you're alone in this right? Even on pirate...

hes a lot lighter than my toy was. He's probably running the 4 banger too. I started out in the mud world lots of guys running 44's and 60's very few toy axles.

Heres before he went to 6 shooters/arps but he's never broken a chromo shaft or hub gear

He's also blown up a lockright but never gears.

mines out of a 92 F350. i didnt think they put 60's under the F250's

Yeah like i said lighter there was and upgrade for my bearing issue but not the CV's i was heavy with lots of power lots of gearing and some grippy 37" mud graplers..
point being that my buddy and his heavy chev didnt break his axle as much as i broke mine.. we swapped rigs a few time just to see if it was driving style and that was not the case..

F250's had d50's, 60 housing with small ring gear and carrier. C's out is 60 though. Inner shafts neck down to fit the smaller carrier.

Im swaping in a 92 D60. So i see no problems doing it. The only draw backs are that the diff sit's further to the passenger side and that the ball joints arent as strong as king pins. Now for my oppinion your tacoma isn't heavy enought to make the balljoint vr. king pin issue matter, and the diff being further out well there could be clearance issues there but that all depends on how you set it up.

    Steering question -

Is there any actual steering benefit to high steer? From what i've rear, the only benefit of going to high steer instead of crossover is getting the tie rod out of the way..

thanks thats good to know. but it is a driver side drop and i plan on cutting down the long side to make it toyota width so i dont think ill have to much of a problem with it being to close to the driver side.

Less bump steer and less of a chance of hitting it on Rocks and what not.

It's still gonna set that diff way out you should get the measurments off a toy axle and compare. Then youll understand what im saying. Not that its a bad thing just some guys have issues with it..

Well i get the fact that it's out of the way for rocks etc..

But how does it help with bump steer compared to crossover.?
