Just in case anyone still harbored some fantasy that this might work. I wanted to confirm your suspicions.......no go on a 2013 DC Sport.

    No, becuase it doesn't work.

The dealer can do it for you though. I don't know if they will do it free, but I intend to ask when I go in next time.

If you spent 20k+ for a vehicle from the dealer, they had better do this for free.

I know it takes a tech about 15 minutes to do this job, but this is one of those things that will ensure that you will consider that dealer for your next purchase.

It cost the dealership nothing, they already have the TechStream program on their laptop computers. Plug into the OBDII port, connect to the vehicle, custom settings and change the door lock to what feature you like.

I know I'm simplifing the description, but a toyota tech that uses this tool everyday will have no trouble making the adjustments that you want.

Save the tech some time and make a list of the custom settings you want.

    Examples:

turn the key chime to loudest or quietest(can't turn that one all the way off)

Turn off seat belt alarms. This one may give you some stattic from the dealer, they may claim it is a federal safety feature. It is not.

If you have a limited truck, you can make the windows roll down with the key in the door lock.

You can have the dealer turn on the factory alarm, most likely you have it. It is a piece of shit, so if you have no real need for it, don't activate it.

You can adjust the volume of the unlock chime when you unlock the truck with the remote.

You can have the headlights, interior lights or no lights come on when you unlock the truck with the remote.

These are the things that can be adjusted that I can remember. I haven't used my Toyota TechStream computer in a while, I'm very sure I forgot some that would be good to know about.

Does anyone know if you can make the doors auto lock when you drive off? Really miss having that! Sorry if already asked and answered anywhere else! :)

Going by memory here, but I think you can make them activate when you engage "drive"

When the tech opens that section of the TechStream program, it will tell you what options are available. It is quite odd, sometimes similar vehicles have different options.

Most of us drive solo most of the time. On the occasion that we have others,we forget that there is someone waiting on the other side of the car for you to unlock the door. Here in michigan, you can piss off your special lady pretty quickly doing this.

The second reason I turned off my "lock on start", is because the way I park in my garage, I will start the truck from the passenger seat. When you do this it will lock all the doors. If you forget to manually unlock the door, you just locked yourself out when you walk around to the driver side.

I got rid of the "lock on start" pretty quick after I locked myself out 2x.

Of course, we all know that Toyota gives these options for making money. It is a quick way for a dealer to make some quick cash with little output. If the dealer makes $80 just to hook up the TS scanner and all they have to do is click the mouse a few times, I'd be all over that scam too.

Don't get me wrong, if you have a real issue with your truck and it out of warrenty, I have no issue paying the diagnostic fee. But something like this should be one of those good will features that will make sure I keep coming back.

Hopefully this little bit of info was worth reading.

Here is what frustrates me about it.

I park in my garage and leave the keys in the ignition all the time.

If i didn't either double click the key fob the last time I locked the door or remember to unlock the door when I get out of the truck in the garage, then the passenger side door is locked.

I often need to get into the truck when it is in the garage - either to get something, put something in, or even get out the six pack I just bought that is sitting on the passenger side floor. The passenger door is in the open area of the garage and easier to get to.

Ok, so I go to the passenger door, and shit. It is locked. Now I have to walk back over to the driver door, squeezing past the toolbox in front of the truck and squeezing between the shelves and the truck, open it, push the button, close it walk back to the passenger door.

Much eaiser if both doors just unlocked when I got in the truck to begin with.
