    Guys,
I am getting my tint done next week and need your help. I am planning to do15% or 20% on the front two. What do I need on the back two to match? Its got the factor tint already on it so I didnt know if they go with like a 25% on the back two to match the front two? Thanks!

I suspect they will do whatever you ask them to. We have pretty strict laws up here about tinting the drivers windows, zero tolerance and nothing but factory tint is allowed. I had mine done a couple years ago. They installed 35 % on the fronts, and put 5 % over the factory tinted rear tint on my A/C windows, which basically blacks them out. I usually do not have any problems, but did get jammed up a couple months ago at a DWI check point by a sheriff, no tickets, but told me if he spotted me again with the tint still on he would write it up. Told him we bought the truck this way from a dealer and never gave it a thought, he didn't really want to hear it... LOL

    Some stuff...
I went 20% on the fronts and 5% on the rear doors and rear slider. Not sure if they test the driver and passenger windows during inspection but I guess I'll find out come re-inspection time!

Edit: I paid about $175 here in Northern VA FYI.

I just asked the shop to match the factory tint on the back on my previous trucks. A good shop will know what to do and will have a wide variety of options.

Just FYI, I think it is worth it to pay up for better tint. My truck and my wife's suv look the same from the outside, but she has better night-time visibility than I do. My wife's suv has 3M tint, and I'm not sure what's on my Tacoma as I didn't put it on.

Just ask the shop to match the front tint/rear tints. And just an fyi... illegal in FL to have front windows tinted beyond 28% (rears can be 15%).

go 20% in the front and put a 50% over the back...and that way it doesn't get too dark...

    if metered it will read:

    FRONT 0.77 windows X 0.20 TINT = 15.4%
    REAR 0.20 windows X 0.50 TINT = 10%

Front will be slightly ligher and not darker...if you only put a real 20% on it will be darker in the front which looks strange. Still not 100% legal but close enough to not get into trouble like limo tint all the way.

But check the tint spec sheet some 20% are actually lighter/darker than 20%...

I used to own a window tinting company in Florida years ago. The two quality brands we would use were Scotch 3 M , and another brand called Llumar, both were excellent. Not sure about the quality now as it has been a long time ago.

I have the darkest tint I could get all the way around, and added an upper and lower brow to the front windshield.

+1 to the Llumar tint. I have it on my BMW, and it is great. Probably wouldn't have gotten it if I didn't get the great deal I got on them, as I understand they're quite pricey.

You're lucky. I would love to black it out all around. Cops would be all over that up here though.

OP, they are good at what they do, ask them to make front and back match if that's what you want.

I'm in FL, and I kept mine legal. It doesn't match, front-to-back, but it's good enough for me.

Yep... If you put 20% on the front it will match the back perfectly. If mine didn't already come tinted I would go 5% all around (not the windshield). They don't really enforce window tint much here. I see people all the time with tinted windshields.

I had mine tinted at 20% on the front and 35% over the factory in the back. I was hoping to get it to match, but you can see that the back is very dark now. I've learned to like it, and I haven't had any issues with the law. :D
