For those who have used the tech deck for awhile, do you ever get pissed that it's tough to work around it to get at all of the controls for the stereo and HVAC? I got RAM parts to mount my phone in my truck, just not sure if I want to go with this which looks like a much sturdier solution, or the Panavise mount that's much lower profile and out of the way.

    Thanks!

I've had mine for a while now, still I don't find much issue getting to any controls. I'm using a cell phone holder and tablet holder on mine. Even on the trail I find it fairly easy to get to the hvac. However it's all in how you angle/setup whatever accessories.

Same here. My cell phone holder is only blocking the heat and AC knob. Whe I use my tablet it is inplace of the radio so it does not bother me. I have steering wheel controls anyway

Sorry for the LATE reply. If you didn't get any mounting hardware for a Tech Deck...OUR BAD!!! You should have. PM me again and I'll get it to you ASAP.

This looks like an awesome product. It may be just what I am looking for. However, I have one reservation. My Tacoma is a standard transmission, therefore, my shifter is farther forward, where the cup holders are located on the automatic transmission model. As is the nature of a manual, I need un-obstructed access to it while driving. Has anyone with a manual installed one of these, and can share some pics?

I saw in one of the posts that someone had the newer Cobra 29 CB Radio in the cubby in front of their auto-shifter. I have a smaller Uniden 520XL CB in the same cubby in my Manual, as it was the only radio that would fit there and not interfere with changing gears. I have a larger Galaxy CB Radio that I would love to use in my Tacoma, but have never been able to fit it anywhere without seriously getting in the way. The Heavy Duty Tech Deck may be the answer, but I'd like to see some pics from other manual drivers to get some ideas before purchasing.

Also, has anyone used the mirror riser with the Back-up camera mirrors? That is what my Tacoma has, and I'm curious if anyone has installed it with one of those yet. It looks to create a perfect place for a Radar Detector or GPS right under the mirror. Heck, I like it just for raising the mirror alone despite the added functionality of adding a mounting location.

Any details regarding these questions is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance to anyone who shares pics related to this.

Just a heads up for anyone wanting a little more adjustability with the ram arms...

I wasn't able to get my phone mount exactly where I wanted it so I was looking at the arm and decided to try modifying it a bit. You can get quite a bit more adjustability with just a little time and a dremel.

I'll do my best to describe without pictures but the arm is 2 pieces that sandwich around the ball right? If you grind a round section out of the end it can rotate on the ball further but still grab tight. It's easy to do and I think it allows me to mount at tighter angles so the devices don't stick out so far.

No, I think you would have to contact RAM themselves for something like that.

I am considering the purchase of the extreme tech deck version for use with an iPhone. Does the RAM Composite Double Socket Arm for 1" Ball Bases work best or would you recommend a different arm? I plan to purchase the RAM cradle holder for easy use. Any recommendations for an ipad3 setup would also be appreciated. Thanks!

No we do not. RAM makes one. One of the reasons we developed the Teck Deck was because Dawg (I'm Bird) didn't like his RAM mount like that one. He said it wobbled too much. Especially when on rough roads.

That's a great idea...I've always wanted a little more adjustment with my RAM balls...especially on my motorcycle. I'm gonna head out to the garage and get my Dremel out.

    Hi guys...

Dawg (I'm Bird) has a manual transmission in his Tacoma with his Tech Deck and there is absolutely ZERO clearance issues. He has all the room in the world between the shifter and the Tech Deck. There is also plenty of room with the cubby too.

Plenty of folks have installed the Mirror Riser with the electronic mirror of the Convenience Package. There is a bit of modification for the mirror bracket...but it works out as well as the standard mirror. Check out the Clearview Rearview thread for more about that.

You'll have no problems with either item on your truck.

This thing looks pretty awesome. I can think of a few gadgets to put on it. I'm sure my wife will find a way to hang her purse from it..

I can maybe get some pics later, but I have a manual and the Tech Deck.

No problems at all with clearance.

I have the camera in the mirror as well - and that is such a huge improvement, I don't know why I didn't do it earlier.
