I agree with this...love is "finding someone that will put up with your shit...and you put up with theirs"...that's love!

Celebrated our 20th this past summer. Best 14 years of her life.

 

Here is how I look at marriage. I was married right after I joined the Fire Dept in 94. I was 23 years old and had dated this girl on and off for a few years. Everyone I knew was married and I thought that I should probably do the same. She was a nice girl. The problem was... I was a complete asshole. Guys don't mature until they hit mid - late 30's. That's just the way it is. We were married for almost 5 years and we grew apart. I take 90% of the blame for why that marriage failed. It was almost all my fault.

A few years later I met my current wife. We have been married for a little over 13 years. We have probably had 3 major fights since we have been married and those occurred during the first year or so of marriage while you are still learning to live with someone. The difference this time around was I grew up. I stopped being a selfish dick and started thinking about things from her perspective. That doesn't mean that I always agree with her perspective but sometimes we just agree to disagree. The petty things are not worth fighting over.

Over the last few years my wife has been my support along with my daughter (documented well in my PTSD thread linked in my sig). Had it not been for her I would not be here today. I owe her more than I can ever repay. I am still living day to day now but with the support that I have from my family I have the ability to live my life and raise my daughter.

There is no right or wrong answer with marriage. You either find the right one or you don't. Only you can decide that.

Good luck OP. All the info in the world won't help you if you choose the wrong one or go into it half-hearted.

 

I will solely blame Subaru foresters if your marriage doesnt work out!...just saying.

Been married for just over 10 years - we complement each other and she's my partner & friend. If you've found the "right" one do it.

Don't rush into any decision that you don't have to. People who go with the flow stay married. Paranoid people, control freaks and those who get married without really knowing the other person don't stay married.

I dated my wife for a year, the we lived together for three, then we got married and have been for five. We might have kids, we might not. Whatever. Go with the flow, marry a good person you love & trust. Enjoy life. Be happy.

My ex wife on the other hand. That lid blew off, and shit boiled over many a times!

 

I am blessed to be with my wife. She has changed me for the best. And she yells at me for buying guns and truck parts but she doesn't kill me so that is a plus haha

 

When my wife and I bought the new outback, we seriously looked at the forester....I just could not figure out where the rainbow sticker would go!
