OEM 2014 Tacoma Navigation Radio

It didn't do it when the truck was new. Over time it started doing it too. I tried different USB microSD cards on it, even a different size totally (32GB to 64GB) and tried filtering the music at a different bitrate. I played with the EQ, turned it all down to -6 and turning the dynamic sound volume leveling control to off from on, I also even swapped out the stock tweeters thinking the stock ones were just defective. There has been no change. It's still present in certain songs at only certain moments.

It only has done it on USB function. On FM or XM it doesn't. I don't know about CD because I don't listen to them. I'm somewhat stumped and have reached an impasse to be honest with you.

 

Hey there it sounds like maybe the track song is defective if you are saying that it only happens in USB and never on radio. Doesnt sound like JBL is the problem. maybe when your truck was new you didnt notice the song as much maybe listened to other songs more? If your 100% certain its not the music, its probably your USB, might have a bad connection or somthing going on with the wires. I say have Toyota fix it, is your truck still under warranty?

 

no longer. I do find it somewhat odd though because if that so is the case there are several track and artists that are defective. I really do not see it being a loose wire. Everything works and operates fine I'm wondering if it possibly maybe the USB connection its self that I am plugging the thumb drive into

dont remember if its garmin based but its pretty acurate and faster than i expected...
it has a micro sd slot in the front where its all stored (bottom right corner)

 

Haven't visited this thread in a while as i try to do everything from the PM's. Your issue isn't really the unit or speakers itself. You need to just get a different song or file type that the specific song is. Possible where you are getting the songs from. If you are downloading them from youtube or some other third party site then get the song from somewhere else. I also use the USB thumb drive and you could have a bad thumb drive. Just try buying a higher quality thumb drive. If its a small thumb drive say 2 or 4 gig then if you keep deleting songs and adding songs then that could also be a problem. I would suggest get new thumb drive or get the song from somewhere else.

 

Sorry for the late response. I did respond to your message. I don't normally open a message with the subject in relation to "Navi" or "2014 Navi" due to it most likely being someone asking for a unit. If something that would be closely related to the assumption of you wanting to buy a unit then I don't open it so it stays highlighted till i have a unit for you so i could keep the best track of who is first in line of a unit. Sorry again I was late in your questions in your PM.

 

I get the songs from torrents, they are typically ripped directly from CD's but I noticed it's typically happening from artists like Five Finger Death Punch. I almost wonder if it has to do with the actual production quality of the music and not so much the actual import quality. I have tried several different SD's so I know that can no longer be the source. I actually do tend to delete, and add songs often too though. So it can really be anything at this point.

Does this entune update work on this radio? I check the entune version on the one I got from FLTrucks and it's 2.1. The update is 3.1.

I got it three days after payment was sent. Very we'll packed.

For folks who have done this,
Did you have any problem getting a entuned vin Number?? Did the radio come with one you could use? Or did you need to find one? Also was wondering since my camera screen is in the mirror can you make it move to the display screen on the radio?

 

You gotta find one, you can search online and put it into the entune sign up page. Might take awhile but look for TRD 14 tacomas. Or you can always call around to stealerships and ask if they have any on the lot and look it up online/go and copy a VIN there.

i havent had time to find out and look for schematics of the new radios to figure out which pin is for the back up cam because those kits they sell for the 2013 radios wont work (at least wont plug in)

Have you tried to install the entune update yet? I couldn't find a USB stick last night to put the firmware on there.
