3" EZ lift kit Black from extremetrucktoys.com, Pro Comp 7089 16X8 Flat Black Wheels, Nitto 285/75/16 Tires and two full matching spares, added the UnderCover Black Composite Tonneau Cover and love it...Sabersport black headlights, Grillcraft Black mesh grille, T-Rex 2 Eyelids, will be adding Total Chaos UCAs soon from downsouth motorsports for $651.70....
Can anyone tell me if the Procomp 7089 black cast 16X8 4.5BS wheel will fit my 05 Taco 4x4 without having brake caliper clearance issues. I know that some of the aftermarket 16" wheels wont clear the calipers on the 2ND GEN TACOS and I want to buy these procomp 16X8 4.5BS wheels to clear my UCAS with my 285/75/16 NTG Tires and my 3" lift....... gimmie some pics of procomp 7089 on 2nd gen tacos and some info....... thanks.....

yeah, those are the same stock 16X7 5.5 backspaced steelies that are on my 05 taco right now and they rub on my ucas since i lifted the truck and added the 33" nitto terra grapplers. so the only way for me to clear the ucas is either to use like spidertrax wheel spacers or to buy an aftermarket wheel that has 4.5 backspacing to bring the wheels out a little bit and away from the upper control arms and stop the slight rubbing.

Yes I have the 7189's 16's. I didn't know if they would fit or not when I ordered them because no one would give me a clear answer. So here is a clear answer for you =)

I got 265/75/16 because I didn't want to trim and they were a little cheaper. Still look nice imo.

dude , thanks very much for clearing that up for me. you're right though, most people will never give you clear answers to tech questions on here and it's frustrating. I have 285/75/16 NTG tires on my stock steel 16X7 with the 5.5BS and it rubs the ucas so that's why i want the procomp 7089 16X8 4.5BS to clear the ucas and I just wanted to make sure I wouldnt have trouble clearing the brake calipers or something messed up like that....and if you've got 7189's than I would say that 7089's probably built with the same shape or opening or whatever to them so that they clear the calipers........

i know this is semi off topic, however, i have been looking around on the site and this thread seems closest to answering my question.i have an '08 reg cab 4x4 with the 16x7 rims and 245/75s. i want to run the black steel procomps at 16x8 with 265/75s. i have the 5100's that i'll be setting to 2.5" up front and i have the AAL to add to the rear (the lift has been sitting in my room waiting to be put on, its rather depressing). my question is: will the rims work out.

I dont know much about the series 98 pro comps but i just bought the 7089 black cast wheel to put on my 05 Taco 4x4 with my 285/75/16 nittos (33") and the 7089 pro comp wheel will clear the brake calipers on the 05-2010 tacomas. that's the major issue with you trying to install the 98 pro comps is, will that particular wheel clear the brake calipers on your taco ? if you went as big as my tires with the 33" you'd end up having rubbing issues on your upper control arms with the stock wheel's backspacing at 5.5" . so if you stick with a 265/75/16 tire on the procomp series 98 wheel you're trying to install, you should have no rubbing issues just as long as the inside shape of the wheel will work on the 2nd gen taco application you're trying to use it for..... contact 4wheelparts or wheelersoffroad or national tire and wheel to ask them if that wheel will clear your brake calipers, and if so , you're good to go... you probably dont even need to buy the 4.0 backspacing wheel that you posted a link to, if they make it in a 4.5 or a 5.0 backspacing that would be fine, unless you really want them to have a wider stance look or something...... hope that helps..... chad

I'm looking at a set of ProComp Rock Crawler 16x7 steel wheels with 4.25" BS. Am I going to be able to fit 265 or 285/75/16s on them? I really like the tires they look good, and are only about 75 bucks a piece. So can somebody give me an idea?

I dont know if those particular 16" procomp wheels will clear the brake calipers on the 2nd gen taco, i know that most 16" aftermarket wheels will not clear the calipers on the 2nd gen tacos. i know that pretty much all 17" and bigger wheels will clear but i only know that my pro comp 7089 16X8 wheels clear my 2nd gen calipers. i know that you'll have no issues with the 4.25" backspacing and a 285 tire other than your tires will rub on the inside of the mudflap mount area and in front on the inner fender hump, both of which can be cut easily without it looking bad or anything. hope this helps somewaht, just ask around about these steel pro comps and the calipers- wheeler's offroad sells steel pro comp wheels for tacomas, you could email or call them for answers, they will know.
