I don't think the one I just bought is carbide but the one I just got was about $25. They aren't cheap.

 

We did have ours all loaded together on one pallet and shipped to my friends motorcycle shop. Saved us quite a bit in shipping. The shop is no more however and it was up north here anyways.

Happy to help if you need it, but I doubt you want to come up here to Wyoming. I know I don't want to go down there to Pueblo.

I didn't use a step bit, although I'm sure it's a good idea. Rather than use a step bit, I used regular bits in steps.

I used a jack but it didn't take me hours. I started with something like a 1/4" bit (maybe even smaller) and then used 3 or 4 intermediate bits until I got to 1/2". All the smaller bits fit in my 3/8" drill chuck. When I got to the 1/2" bit, my only drill with a 1/2" chuck is my Milwaukee hole hawg. It's big, square and heavy so I put it on my motorcycle/atv jack and just slowly worked the jack to drill the hole. The jack came in really handy to install them too. Just layed them on the jack, rolled them into place, raised them and bolted them up. Worked great for the front bumper too.


You can always bolt them up and drill later if you want. If you use a step bit, you may not be able to drill through the hole in the sliders but a normal 1/2" bit is no problem to drill and bolt after the sliders are bolted up.
