Here's what I cut on the back, I still need to try to push some stuff back to get it to fit a little more flush.

Yes, just cut it out. Made a rectangle similar to PcBuilder and it slides right in

is that the only model cobra that fits in there. I thought there was one that fit perfect without having to cut

You have to cut as it blacks the cb from going in further, I think a uniden fits better but still needs to cut

And you're not necessarily just cutting to fit the cb, you're cutting to fit the wiring back there.

    x2

Mind has done great when it works... Haha That's because of a grounding issue though, not because of the radio.

from my experiance, if your ever in a group with another 520xl..they will ALWAYS be super loud and clear..while everyone else is quiet..haha Ben has had both and loves the Uinden over the cobra much more.

    they both work though

Quick question for those with a 1998-2000 model tacomas. I have been wondering for a while but Google is no help, does the bottom button on your key fob do anything? My top button locks and unlocks my truck which it really annoying while the bottom button serves no purpose, ans can I modify it to where I can use the bottom to unlock it instead of sharing the top button?

And you may not need to cut all that out. Take the time to trim to fit. I found out after doing mine and Silas' that less is more. Cutting out just the back, you can jamb the CB in there and just use sticky-back velcro or double-sided tape to secure the top to the front lip of the trim. I've considered ordering a new trim piece and re-doing the mount.

Yeah, I would have done it a lot better had I been using a dremel or something. I used an old knife to cut that...

That top piece that I left pushes down on my cb and the sides are tight enough that mine isn't going anywhere just sitting in the way it is.

i'll use velcro to secure it. i think i'll order an extra trim piece like tomtom said, just incase I get tired of it or need to revert to the old way

Both my top and bottom buttons do the exact same thing. If the doors are locked either button will unlock them and if doors are unlocked either button will lock them...

Wow that looks clean. No I'm not a smoker but the installs I've seen stick out too far. ^ this one is ideal for me though. Maybe I'll try to get that same uniden model CB. Thanks for the pic

How much trimming was needed to make sit back in the ashtray spot?
