What do you guys think toyo open country AT2 or Nitto terra grapplers
I want the truck to look little more aggressive everything is stock on my truck
I have stock tires now 265/65/17 and was going to go to 265/70/17 I don't want any rubbing is that a good size?
2010 TRD 4x4 double cab long bed
My drive is all highway so don't want to deal with a lot of road noise either
Was also going to paint stock rims black also
You guys have any pics of these tires on stock truck?

The plus side for you in the Terra Grappler is it is available in a P-metric since your on the road alot. The toyo is a LT tire which is gonna make the ride a little more rough. Alot of people i know run the Nitto and milage is hit or miss and there is no milage warranty. Just my thoughts.

I have the Nitto's and couldn't be happier.

    1) Look aggressive

    2) Smooth ride with little road noise

    3) Have had great luck with ice and snow here in Kentucky

I think Both are good, just depends in what you want out of you tires... I saw these Generals at walmart the other day thought they were pretty cool.. ry3a6u9e_3a3fe7c80d38d6c54a6e31c6dc2aedf2a00dcd34.jpg

What he said. I've had them both and it's hard to pick ONE! I also had the older Toyo AT's and they gave me some great mileage.

Got 46k on my terra grapplers. Look great and ride great. You won't be disappointed. Got some pics on stock wheels in my gallery. I'm running 285's. I ran 265's for a few days when I got mine cause they put the wrong size on mine. They rode really good. You won't have any rubbing with 265's on stock suspension.

    Bone stock for now....
I installed my ATII tires last week and they are VERY quiet. Look good and are on the light end of all the AT tires I looked at. $146 a copy through tread depot.com.

Edit. Out of curiosity, I looked up the Nitto weight and it was 40.8 compared to 41 for the Toyo. A virtual wash. I didn't have the Nitto on my short list. My only other advice is to try and get a look at both in person. I added the Toyo to my list after seeing them on a Tundra. For the amount of off road I do the ATII is perfect.

Sorry for the bad info but in that case the choice for me would be the AT 11's witb warranty.

Between the two, go with the Terra Grappler. The Toyo AT2 has terrible reviews on 1010tires. I was considering them last time I bought tires until I read what people were saying about them. I ended up buying Terra Grapplers (but only because they were sold out of Hankook Dynapro ATM's, which were very favorably reviewed and priced right)

Go with the Toyo,s. I have set on my Tundra. They are really quite on the highway, perform very well in the rain, snow and packed snow. The warranty is a big plus over the Nitto's. I read reviews as well for both but what stood out the most was the inconsistent mileage life for the Nitto's. Plus I figured how bad could the Toyo's really be, hell they own Nitto.
The reviews on 1010tires.com had the Toyo AT II's avg 4.3 out of 5 and the Terra's 3.8 out of 5.

I Just purcased the Nitto's They seem to be good so far. little road noise, smooth ride, great in snow and ice. Been driving in 2 wheel drive in the snow here in West Virginia. The price was good also.

I'm in the wholesale tire business and have the Toyo AT II on my truck. I've sold literally hundreds if not thousands of the Toyos and have had only a couple of complaints come back from the end users. Both tires are great choices. I don't think you would go wrong with either but my vote is for the Toyo.

I'm late to this but I saw the thread and figured I'd throw in my two cents.

I've got almost 50k on my Terra Grapplers. The tread wear has really been pretty good (guessing I'll get another 10k out of them)c, and especially considering that I only rotated them once at 6k miles. I told myself I would do it regularly but it didn't work out..lol. It's been snowing here a lot the past few weeks and I've never had any trouble going wherever I want, including straight up a very steep hill with 5 inches of fresh powder on it. I'll probably replace them in the fall whether they're dead or not simply because I'll need the traction when the snows start. I'll be going with something else though, purely because of the noise.

They have been noisy from day 1 though. I see people posting on how quiet they are. They are not quiet for me. Maybe my ineptitude at rotating exacerbated the situation but they've been loud from day 1, I swear it. I'm also an all interstate driver, 70 miles a day 5 days a week. Maybe driving around town they aren't real loud but I don't notice one way or the other. Tacomas are noisy trucks in-general though so I've just dealt with it. It gives my wife a headache though..lol

Interestingly enough, I got 50k out of the factory Rugged Trails too and they were decently quiet.

Did a lot of research on mine before I bought them for my '13 DCLB....got the P-metric Toyo AT II's (w/ 65k-mile warranty). My local Discount Tire didn't carry them, but they had them shipped in for me. I had them price match and got them in 265/70/17 for $760 OTD.

LOVE THEM so far and look great, too!

I am also trying to decide on new tires... Does anyone have an upclose of their a/t 2s? I just cannot decide if I like the sidewall or not. Thanks!
