    It doesn't technically doesn't freeze. But it won't turn into a gas at like -40 which I have personally seen.

    Also the moisture in the bottles can freeze up the lines or the regulator.

    The bottle when static does not freeze, like you said the freezing point is quite low. It is when the gas is flowing and expanding from high (in the tank) to low (atmosphere) pressure, known as throttling, that this can happen.

    Yeah regulators freezing up is a show stopper! From a science perspective It is Boyles Law. The conversion (decompression) from liquid to gas demands energy which is taken from the surroundings in the form of heat. When the surroundings are a relatively small area the resulting temperature drop is enough to block the flow of gas to the line. A larger volume tank means more mass for the heat to come from, thus less likelihood of freeze up. That is why I use a 20lb. tank with a distribution tree instead of those 1 lb. tanks which can freeze up quickly with high demand (flow). Eventually with the demand from multiple devices on a 20lb. tank in cold enough weather they will freeze too.

    Same principle as a CO2 fire extinguisher. When fitting a friction fit bearing on a large pump or turbine shaft you can put the bearing in a bearing oven to expand it. But large pump and turbine shafts don't fit in the reefer so well LOL. So I would hit the end of the shaft with CO2 from the bottle to shrink it a bit before slapping the hot bearing on it. And of course refill the bottle afterwards!

    I don't know. My first Tacoma. I'm just learning about mine don't know anything about previous models. Their website shows 00-04 Tacoma's. We'll see.

    I am building an overland rig specifically my affordable earth roamer. I will be doing a long off road trip to South Utah so dust will be a factor and late summer can produce flash flooded stream crossings. Not to mention they look cool.

    So nice to see someone that is honest!! Whenever I mention a snorkel - so many ask about the reality of water crossings, the danger of fording streams and so on -- I really don't want to be bothered with reality!! Reality is for people that can't handle the idea that my truck is a badass go anywhere rig!! Just an opinion but I think the Safari snorkels look better than the Airflow...so will probably go with a Safari even though it is a tougher install and involves extra/spare parts.

    Yes - they look cool and might even have some minuscule benefit somehow. But - they look cool. Anticipate adding one to my rig this spring - just in time for the thaw and the swollen rivers that I will not go near....it's dangerous!!

    Well I haven't ALWAYS lived and stayed my entire life in Alabama. I have been in a lot of places, and camped up in the Tennessee mountains as well during the winter.

    Perhaps that is why mine never froze on me. I didn't have a high demand. I just used a small propane heater on low to keep the freezing temps out of the campers and tents I used.
