What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Yeah, the local dealer here as done lots of work on my truck and they still won't give me the discount that Camelback does. With local sales tax, the shipping costs, if I don't make the $150 mark, is still reasonable.

 

That's what mine would do but at times they would stay bright. I'll have to keep an eye on how they work with the new switch to see if it was actually the switch.

 

I don't either but I did put the old incandescent bulbs in there and they were intermittent as well so I went after the switch.

 

CBIs have much sharper cutoffs then the D2s

 

I will agree with this. They are brighter as in temperature, but not necessarily putting out a ton more light. You still can't see very well until you are close to something. I back up looking through my mirrors a lot so it's even harder to see than turning around. Just another thing I got used to doing when I couldn't see out the back window.

For $10 they are good enough improvement for me. Can see shit behind me now. If they last the lifetime of the truck, even better.

 

Interesting, it sounds like i'll just add a temp sensor.
Anyone have a good idea on where to mount a temp gauge in the cab? i'd like it where i can see it easily, so i was thinking of the gauge pods on the pillar, but i think they'd stick out to far, and i'll need both spots for when i get my SC and get boost and AFR gauges.

 

Don't think the switch burnt out because of the bulbs. Should be drawing less current than the incandescent ones. Others have had the same issue with the switch going out due to age. I did get a nice burp of gear oil when I actuated it by hand. Wondering if that had something to do with it. Time will tell.

 

Installed a heater core!

 

Welded up the bumper. Probably gonna paint tomorrow.

 

you need another light above your truck and how did you end up breaking your skid?

 

Yes. Had to program the unit with x codes to make it read the data though. Also has to be a ScanGauge II with a certain level of firmware update.

I got mine about 2 years ago and it came as a "II" and did not need a firmware update to be able to work with the x codes.

I think the '96s & '97s either don't have sensors or the ECU does not capture the data. In either case, the ScanGauge x codes don't work on those model years.

If PIDs are programming data, then yes, I suppose they are.

Maybe my old stock bulbs were just bad, but I can see much better out the rear window when backing up. I don't use the mirrors to back up though, so maybe that's why I can see better?

Dezert ninja got me coming over a dune me thinks since there was only one really hard hit I took where the truck got up on two wheels lol

 

Bumpers a little tweaked aswell, probably just gonna be going with a new one since I've been wanting a winch bunper for a while now anyways
